This is a nice giveaway for one of our wonderful readers! Want to try the new Wanchai Ferry Beef and Broccoli dinner? Well, how about the opportunity to try it for FREE and enjoy an awesome dinner gift pack provided to by Wanchai Ferry through My Blog Spark!
They provided us with this dinner kit to try as well. We are The Thrifty Couple and thrive on our date night’s in, but even better we love a FREE date night in!
Here’s how we do our date nights in with 5 easy steps:
- Step 1 – Get kids fed, ready for bed, teeth brushed, stories read, hugs, kisses and prayers
- Step 2 – Turn off the lights tip toe down the hall and RUN to the kitchen
- Step 3 – Start making dinner TOGETHER and talk and enjoy the time together
- Step 4 – Set the stage with candlelight, and a nice spread complete with table settings (we also added pot stickers and lemon bars to complete the meal)
- Step 5 – Sit down, eat slowly, talk a lot and enjoy the time together (and for romance sake – hold hands, gaze and whisper sweet nothings….)
So that is exactly what we did. We had the new Wanchai Ferry Beef and Broccoli dinner. This particular variety is filled with beef strips, Asian-style vegetable, broccoli florets, red peppers and water chestnuts and the authentic sauce. You serve it over rice that comes in the dinner kit. Everything is in the kit that you need and it takes about 14 minutes to prepare. To be honest, we have never had a frozen or home made Chinese meal that tastes nearly close to as good as the take-out down the road. But for being a frozen Chinese meal, we cannot complain. It had decent flavor. The texture was a little off, probably because of it being a reheated frozen meal (best to probably eat immediately and not try to take snapshots while it sits on the table ;)). But we can say…. that when you are in a bind, in a hurry or having a plan dinner panic attack – this would make for a nice, quick and easy meal. And, they have no added MSG. The dinner kits would probably be best for couples as we do not think it would feed a family – it would need to be about 3 of them to feed ours (which would become a very expensive dinner). But follow the steps above with the two of you and you are set for a VERY affordable Chinese dinner date night in!
So here’s a way for EVERYONE to try them at a nice discount: COUPONS! Here are a couple as you might want to grab more than one variety of Wanchai Ferry dinner kits …..
You can find these kits in the freezer section of your local grocery store.
So now it is time to enter for a chance to win this Wanchai Ferry dinner set filled that also includes 2 tea cups, tea infusers and tea leaves a wonderful The Thrifty Couple reader.

Well hubby and I haven’t had a real date night since November!! Sister was in town on the 2nd of July and we visited our dear friends at the hospital that had twins w/o the kids. It was fun but not really a romantic date!!
Robyn
One of the best additions we’ve made to our date nights in is stove-popped popcorn! I get the kernels on sale around $.50/lb. and a little bit goes a long way — plus the flavor is phenomenal.

Date Night??? What’s that??? We don’t really get any date nights with a kid, even a date night in! But that needs to change!
