Another great deal today! We certainly don’t get the opportunity to post many, but it does seem like they come in pairs when there are great enough deals worth mentioning!
Today, we get to share that our favorite source for good quality meats is having an additional sale on top of their already lower than grocery store prices. So that means you can save even more in your grocery budget.
You can already buy better quality meats for 30-50% less by purchasing in bulk and cutting out the middle man, plus grab another 10% off your bulk order right now through May 9th! This is a HUGE opportunity to stock your freezers.
This has been our main source of Salmon, Chicken and some beef for the past several years. Their salmon offering is the Wild Alaskan Caught Salmon, which is the Salmon you want to purchase and easily runs $12.99+ per pound in the grocery store as compared to the farmed Salmon for $7.99 per pound in the grocery store. Well, through Zaycon, we can get the $12.99 equivalent Salmon for $6.99!
Chicken is also another one of our family’s main source of protein and so you know that I get super excited when I can purchase a better quality chicken. There are no added hormones, it comes fresh from the farm, no additives and minimally processed. It’s not organic, which would be super stellar for this price. But since organic chicken breast is around $6 a pound in our area, this is the second best option and keeps this family of 8 within our grocery budget.
We have continued and will continue to buy this chicken because we have been impressed by the value. The chicken in the grocery store is more expensive and not as great of a quality. They do not sell just chicken, but their sales and offerings change and change often. This is what happens to be on sale right now (sometimes fish, sometimes beef, sometimes bacon, sometimes even fruit!).
Now….let me explain how this works in a few bullet points:
- It’s only available a few times per year – each type of meat is offered about twice a year.
- It’s only available in bulk – which is great for families with freezer storage OR 2 – 3 families sharing a case that don’t have freezer storage.
- You pick it up at the specified local location, not at a store, warehouse, etc. A refrigerated delivery truck arrives in your local area and parks in the parking lot. You drive up, roll down your window and give them your name, pop the trunk of your vehicle and they will load it in! You don’t even have to get out! It super simple, other than driving to the pick-up location. Most locations are within 5-10 minutes.
So in the end, it’s like a bulk, meat co-op! At least this is how you can think of it!
More about how Zaycon Foods work?
This chicken is sold via Zaycon Foods which is a nationwide company that provides fresh chicken, beef, pork and seafood to families at an affordable price. Their meat is higher quality and in some cases a natural option. They only have meat offerings at certain times of the year and for a certain type of meat. You do not know how often or when they will have these sales.
If it’s not sold in the grocery stores, how do I get it?
The way that this works is that you place your order online and then you will pick up your order from a local pick-up site as they are delivered to the area fresh in a cold truck. For example, the chicken comes right from the processor and is not frozen beforehand, so it is super fresh. The pick-up spot is usually within a few minute drive of your home and they are in a parking lot of a private business/organization (like a church parking lot) and the pick-up time for your area will be on a certain date and a small window of time (usually 30 minutes) on that day.
Here’s some example pictures from our last pick-up:
Here’s a sample of how the chicken comes in the 40 lb. boxes:
They have many different offerings right now, and whatever prices are listed, you can get an additional 10% off with coupon code: MOM10 through the link HERE
As an example of our normal order, we often get two-three 40-lb. case boxes as this is pretty much the only chicken we have. We also have a growing family and our little kids are getting bigger, so we are starting to need to make more per meal. One 40 lb. box will last our family for about 2-3 months.
We freeze half of the chicken raw in ziplocs and the other box we cook it all up and chop it up and have cooked cubed or shredded chicken which makes dinner so much easier as this is always the hardest part for me (defrosting and cooking the meat). So the days I have very little time, the cooked chicken is the answer.
And…we use our KitchenAid mixer to shred the chicken in seconds, making the prep work very minimal!
This last batch, I also made 30 dump chicken meals for the crockpot with different themes: American, Hawaiian, Italian, Chinese and Mexican themed dump chicken meals. We have so much enjoyed these freezer meals, especially when we just “dump” them into the crockpot. I am planning to share these recipes with you so that you can also make freezer dump chicken crock pot meals. I will be making these same ones and some other dump chicken recipes just so we have a lot of variety in our freezer and a lot to share with you, so you can pick and choose which freezer meal recipes you want to make.
Read our post HERE on how these come packaged and then how we prep them for the freezer
We highly encourage you to look into this and to place your orders soon as they sell out of this product. One time, I waited too long and the locations that were 3, 15, 25 minutes away were sold out and I had to go with the fourth option that was 45 minutes away, when I literally had an option up the road. It was still worth the 45 minute drive, however, I don’t wait any longer because I want to pick-up close to home and order before they sell out.
Head to the Zaycon Site HERE and register (or log-in if already a member).
You have to be registered to see the prices, pickup and delivery details and dates for your area and additional details.
Don’t miss this event as it is only open for orders the next few weeks or until they sell out and then it will be gone again for a while!
