WE ARE SO EXCITED to be celebrating the wedding and union of my sister to the love of her life this afternoon! The two of them will make their vows and to one another as we all witness their commitment and promise.
Here’s the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs.
This is a time that also reminds us of the greatest love of all:
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God
and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love
of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son
into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God,
but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
1 John 4:7-11
So as we celebrate their union today, we wanted to remind you of the greatness of God’s love, and the love we can all show towards those around us through giving, sharing and encouraging one another. We also pray and hope that we can express this to each of you as you read our site and know that we are very thankful for you!
With that said, we want to share in the celebration with you
by giving one of you a $20 Amazon gift card this weekend!
We want to “give” a gift to my sister and her new husband from all of our readers.Β As you may know, we have not always been “The Thrifty Couple” and certainly not when we were first married! So, please share a frugal tip that we can compile and put together for them on ways to live frugally during that first year of marriage! Just leave it as a comment in this post and it will count as your first entry!
So…… here are the four ways to enter to win the $20 Amazon gift card. Make sure to leave a comment for each one as each one is a separate entry.Β And yes, you really can submit all four entries for four separate chances to win!
- The first “mandatory” entry is leaving a comment on this post regarding your frugal tip about anything to pass along to the newlyweds to help them have a thrifty first year!Β Β
- For your next entry, leave a second comment if you are a “liker” of The Thrifty Couple on Facebook.Β Its not too late if you’re not a liker yet, just go to our page and click ‘Like’.Β We also post extra deals and information on Facebook for our readers that you will not find on the site here.
- Subscribe to The Thrifty Couple email updates – Have our deals delivered to your inbox daily so you never miss a deal or another giveaway! Cash is king: DON’T BORROW MONEY!!!!! Dave Ramsey said it, but it’s so true. Our marriage, our stress levels, and our entire lives all got so much better once we switched to exclusively using cash. God is good! Congratulations on your marriage — may it be long and HAPPY!!

Don’t even start putting things on credit cards. It becomes a habit. If you can’t afford to pay for it now, wait till you can. Also matching coupons with sales will make your dollars go further.

Enjoy your time together while doing things that don’t cost a ton of money. Enjoy the local parks, beach, lake, etc.
Don’t feel like the gifts for each other have to cost a fortune! Make them meaningful rather than trying to keep up with the Joneses! π

Renting a movie and watching it at home can be just as romantic (but much thriftier) than going to the movie theater.
Dee
I think it’s the little things you do that can help you grow closer and save money — avoid going to the movies and just stay at home and watch, cook at home (more delicious) and go on weekend getaways to a park for picnic or a local museum. It’s fun and very very inexpensive! π

When we were newlyweds, we made an agreement to always consult one another first before making purchases of $50 (that was a lot of years ago). It was a great way to manage our finances together.

Mattresses can be really expensive so my tip is: Flip your mattress so you can get the most out of your bedding. You can also try rotating it without having to flip it. Finally, use a mattress pad to keep the mattress clean β mattress pads can be laundered!

It’s worth it to make your own laundry soap, dish soap, etc. It lasts longer and is cheaper!
Thanks for the giveaway and CONGRATS to your sister!

If you do have a credit card, make sure that you pay it off each month. If you have a card that gives you extra percentage, it is great. God Bless your marriage! Congrats!!!
