WE ARE SO EXCITED to be celebrating the wedding and union of my sister to the love of her life this afternoon! The two of them will make their vows and to one another as we all witness their commitment and promise.
Here’s the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs.
This is a time that also reminds us of the greatest love of all:
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God
and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love
of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son
into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God,
but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
1 John 4:7-11
So as we celebrate their union today, we wanted to remind you of the greatness of God’s love, and the love we can all show towards those around us through giving, sharing and encouraging one another. We also pray and hope that we can express this to each of you as you read our site and know that we are very thankful for you!
With that said, we want to share in the celebration with you
by giving one of you a $20 Amazon gift card this weekend!
We want to “give” a gift to my sister and her new husband from all of our readers. As you may know, we have not always been “The Thrifty Couple” and certainly not when we were first married! So, please share a frugal tip that we can compile and put together for them on ways to live frugally during that first year of marriage! Just leave it as a comment in this post and it will count as your first entry!
So…… here are the four ways to enter to win the $20 Amazon gift card. Make sure to leave a comment for each one as each one is a separate entry. And yes, you really can submit all four entries for four separate chances to win!
- The first “mandatory” entry is leaving a comment on this post regarding your frugal tip about anything to pass along to the newlyweds to help them have a thrifty first year!
- For your next entry, leave a second comment if you are a “liker” of The Thrifty Couple on Facebook. Its not too late if you’re not a liker yet, just go to our page and click ‘Like’. We also post extra deals and information on Facebook for our readers that you will not find on the site here.
- Subscribe to The Thrifty Couple email updates – Have our deals delivered to your inbox daily so you never miss a deal or another giveaway! You must confirm your subscription before commenting (a confirmation email will be sent to you that you will need to click through to confirm that you would like to receive emails from us!)! If you are already a confirmed subscriber, just leave a comment and tell us you are!
- Share our site with your friends via email, your preferred social media outlet with a link to our site. Just leave a comment and let us know you spread the word. And we really appreciate it too!
This giveaway is for This weekend – Friday, July 1st through 11:59 MDT Saturday July 2nd!
The winner will be picked by Randomizer.org and announced on Monday, July 4th!

Always weigh your needs (ie. oil changes, dish soap, dentist appts.) against your wants (ie. movies, vacations, eating out). And then make your money choices TOGETHER.
I already get Thrifty Couple e-mails.

My tip is to bring what you intend to bring in cash so you don’t overspend. It is too easy to swipe a card and not pay attention to the amount adding up.

Heres my tip…..Wear yard sale clothing

we always “sleep” on big purchases (anything over $100) to make sure it’s what we really want/need.

When you go out to eat for a date, share an entree! Portions are so big anyway, and sometimes you can find coupons for a free appetizer or dessert(chili’s has them a lot if you sign up on their email list).

My frugal tip is: Pray together everyday! The list of things this helps with is huge. May your marriage be a wonderful picture of our marriage to The Heavenly Bridegroom!

My tip for a cheap date night is go to Aldi and buy Chicken Cordeon Blue or Chicken Kiev for $1 each and a box of rice and rent a Redbox movie and stay at home for a date for under seven bucks.

My tip is to talk to each other about money. It was a scary thing for me to be honest with another person about this, but it was one of the best things I even did!

My tip is to make your own fun. Buy a few games and you’ll have an endless supply of game nights. Occasional out dates are nice, but doing at-home dates can be just as fun and save a lot of money.

Enjoy you special day!! Our special day 13 years ago has led to many special since! We were very thankful for what we had…a thankfulness and contentment that has allowed us to have a financial freedom. On very little income (we have served in ministry positions during our married life) we have waited for God’s supply and tried not to covet things. So my advice would be…look around…and be thankful! The things God’s has supplied for you are His portion for today…..and He will continue to provide for tomorrow!! May God bless….and provide as He so bountifully can!!

My best frugal tip is always think of a different way to do something. You need a desk for school. Do you really need to buy a brand new desk? Doesn’t a $10 desk off craigslist get the job done?
Also, never buy cleaning products. Vinegar is your best friend.

Congratulations to your sister. My husband and I were married 16 years ago today. One thing that I am thankful that we did, was going through Financial Peace with Dave Ramsey. We went through it five years ago and what a difference it has made for us.

Talk about money! If you don’t talk about how much you make and what your expenses are and how you intend to spend your money, you’ll inevitably end up fighting about your spending.
(BTW I love the engagement photos at the library! My husband and I just took photos for a friend there and they also turned out great!)
