Want to learn about this Miracle Microwave Mix for Cleaning with Baking Soda?
Let me tell you about it because it is awesome!
I have seriously discovered a super effective, super frugal, super snazzy trick to cleaning AND deodorizing the microwave.
I have typically used vinegar and lemon juice or lemon essential oil, which has been pretty effective.
But, I really wanted to zap those odors, not leave any after smells (of vinegar or lemons), and get a sparkly clean microwave in a jiffy.
So, I discovered what I call the Miracle Microwave Mix. Actually, I can’t take credit. I have to give the credit to my creative, inventive, resourceful 12-year old daughter. This was her idea.
It started when I asked if she could deep clean the microwave. I told her that she could do the vinegar and lemon trick.
Well, she said, “You know how we keep baking soda in the fridge to keep it smelling good? Well, I wonder if you can use it in a microwave to make it smell good.”
I said, “Google it!”
So she did. And sure enough, dozens of websites refer to a baking soda and water mixture for a killer microwave cleaning. Killer because it kills odors and kills that stubborn, stuck-on food.
She tried it and the results were amazing. And it is even cheaper than vinegar and lemon juice/lemon oil.
This is the new winner in our home and because of it – we call it the

It is a miracle, indeed! I’ve used to heat a bowl full of lemon pieces and water for about 10 minutes and then wiped the microwave – it’s efficient too, but needs a little more time. Never tried with baking soda actually. It was a good surprice, when it worked so fast. Surely adding your idea to my cleaning routine. Thanks for sharing 🙂
