Did you know that today is National Doughnut Day? Well where were you in history class??? Apparently it has been around since 1938. It actually has quite a cool history – a day set aside to honor the women who served donuts to the men during World War 1.
Anyway, fast forward 75 years later and we can now celebrate and remember a portion of our history by eating FREE donuts!!

Honestly, we only live near a Krispy Kreme and so we can only get 1 each – but that is probably a good thing since I have a weakness for doughnuts! Also, a year or so ago, we discovered that Krispy Kreme is safe for our peanut and tree nut allergy kid and until we found this out last year, she had never had a doughnut from a doughnut shop! Although we found this out, we still always check each time we go (especially since it is rarely) to be sure nothing has changed. Also, from the corporate level, they themselves say that their products are safe, HOWEVER, be sure to check with your local store as well in case of some location differences in what they have in-store. Our local branch is safe too!
