This is EPIC! At least for the household cook wanting to find creative ways to make veggies delicious for the family. We are always trying to find ways to make a healthier homemade version of the popular foods out there, especially the ones kids love.
Cauliflower is just awesome. It is so versatile, so yummy and so easy to incorporate. Whenever I make homemade mac and cheese (the only way to eat mac and cheese ;)) I substitute half of the pasta for cauliflower. My kids cannot tell and I love it!
Also, mashed cauliflower is a great substitute for mashed potatoes. We usually make garlic mashed potatoes, so garlic mashed cauliflower instead is great. Plus, we throw it in soups, roast it like the broccoli, the ideas are really endless. Don’t forget to try the Cauliflower Chowder too. So why not substitute them for a kid-friendly favorite – TOTS?!?
Well, I don’t need to rave about cauliflower because we all know that it is much healthier than potatoes, pasta, pizza crust and anything else we are replacing it with. We just need to get down to the recipe as that is the next important step.
So, we bring you Oven Crispy Baked Cauliflower Tots today! These can also be called Cheesy Cauliflower Tots, but if you wanted to make them even healthier, you can leave the cheese out!
You and your family will LOVE these. They are also only 4 ingredients and very easy to make. Consider this with the next burger night, pizza nut, nugget night, etc. I also have a healthier homemade chicken nugget recipe that I will share soon too that is a perfect pair with this recipe. So be watching for that.
4-Ingredients for Oven Crispy Baked Cauliflower Tots:
- 3 cups finely chopped cooked cauliflower (about 1 medium head of cauliflower)
- 1 cup Italian seasoned panko bread crumbs (be sure they are seasoned)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 eggs
Directions for Oven Crispy Baked Cauliflower Tots:
- To prepare the cauliflower, chop and boil florets until soft. These can be larger pieces of cauliflower no need to make them too small. Once slightly soft, drain and finely chop with a knife, or pulse a few times in a food processor until it resembles large course crumbs.
- Add the 3 cups of chopped cauliflower, breadcrumbs, cheese and eggs into a large mixing bowl.
- Mix with a large spoon until everything is combined.
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- While oven is preheating, shape cauliflower mixture to form small cylinders that look like tater tots. Make sure to first press the mixture together between your palms before shaping, so that the ingredients stick together better. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for about 15 minutes and then flip tots over and bake for another 10 minutes. If your tots are larger, you may need to bake longer so that they are crispy. Serve with ketchup or other dipping sauce.
- Enjoy! ☺

These look really good! I am doing a super low carb diet so I think I will try to replace the bread crumbs with Flax Meal. Worth a shot at least! lol
Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
Cassie
YES! Flax meal with our homemade Italian Season is actually what we normally do because we have cut out most classic forms of bread. We also leave out the cheese most times too. 😉
Here’s the Italian Seasoning recipe, you will want to add it for flavor – highly recommended: https://thethriftycouple.com/2014/06/27/homemade-italian-seasoning-with-many-versatile-recipe-uses-and-5-minutes-to-make/

Cassie, THANKS for mentioning that you “leave out the cheese most times too”
The cheese counts for 1/4 of the ingredients. A cup (8oz) of cheese = 24-30 g fat.
Appreciate the recipe…cauliflower is now a super food.

These look great! Definitely pinning for future reference.

I’m tempted to try this! I love broccoli but have not eaten cauliflower much……this recipe just may have changed that!

Those look really good! I have two kids who are allergic to eggs but I guess I could make them for the rest of the family when they aren’t home 😉
I am hoping to keep eggs completely eliminated from their diet and gradually reintroducing them similar to what you did with your daughter’s peanut allergy. I hope it works, so they can eat yummy egg-based foods again!
