We were recently given a membership to ShopRunner to test out and experience so that we can give you our review of this shipping service.

We were excited to try this as we are big Amazon Prime fans, but as you know it obviously only works for products sold on Amazon.  Wouldn’t it be great if you get get “Prime” shipping for other retailers as well?  Now there’s a solution to get unlimited 2-day shipping on other major retailers for a nominal fee – ShopRunner!

Overall we have been impressed with the service.  The first time we used ShopRunner, we decided to take advantage of the buy one get one 50% off Lego sale on Toys R Us for upcoming birthday and Christmas gifts.  The first thing we noted was that Toys R Us was only offering the 50% off one item no matter if we had 4 or 6 items in the cart.  So to truly convert on this deal we would truly need to split these up into multiple transactions – which we did easily with ShopRunner.  The reason we share this is because without using ShopRunner, it wouldn’t have been economical to convert this deal as it would have required a separate shipping charge for each purchase.  But because we were using ShopRunner, we were able to do all these and get the FREE 2-day shipping for each order.  Not only that, but we also wanted to take advantage of the $2.49 sets – so we literally did an order for $2.49 (plus $1.25 for the second set) and did not have to pay shipping!  Without ShopRunner, the shipping charge itself would have been more expensive than the two items combined!

Considerations before you buy:

• Similar to Amazon Prime, the FREE 2-day shipping is not available on all products on each retailers sites.  We suggest poking around the sites where ShopRunner is featured and see if items you buy normally or that are of interest to you are offered under ShopRunner‘s shipping services.
• You do have to pay fees to use the service at 8.95 monthly or $79 for the year ($6.58 a month).  Now this is actually a really good deal if you shop online more than 2-3 times per month as you will pay a shipping fee.  And not only that, but it is an even better deal when you consider that paying for 2-day shipping just one time would most likely be more than the monthly fee in just one online purchase.
• Although there are a number of retailers such as Babies R Us, Toys R Us, and Drugstore.com that ShopRunner offers free shipping services for, there still may be a number of retailers that you shop online at that are not yet offered.  However, they are adding retailers more and more continuously.  We recommend checking out the full list of current retailers that they offer this shipping service at.

Here’s how we think that this service will save you money:

1. You can buy those amazing deals and clearance items that occasionally pop-up on your favorite retail site without needing to pay shipping!  Sometimes there will be a super-sweet clearance on just the one item that you want, but the cost of shipping will normally offset these amazing savings. With ShopRunner, you no longer have to even consider the shipping cost and just grab those deals fast when they pop up!
2. You will save money by spending less on your order.  What we mean is that because there is no minimum amount to order to get your FREE 2-day shipping. So often when you shop online, you can find some great deals on items, but need to spend more in order to receive the sites FREE or discount shipping on your order.  As a result, you can end up buying more than you intended just to get those perks.  But with ShopRunner, you can spend exactly as planned and not spend more to get the shipping promotion.
3. The returns are FREE as well. If you see a hot deal on a site, you can go ahead and make the purchase. Then if it doesn’t work out for whatever reason, you can return the item(s) at no additional cost to you.  This allows you much flexibility in your budget and opening the savings options even more!!
4. Split the cost of the membership with family members.  Because this can be shared with four family members, you can split the costs and share the savings love! That is SWEET!
