My best tip is to eat at home BEFORE going to holiday parties. Then you’ll be less likely to overindulge.

I normally drink lots of water before parties like this so I load up on food while there
Chung
I will try to eat everything since it is the holiday but I will only myself for one or two bites of every dish. That way I get to eat all the food but yet save some calories.
Amber
I always try to eat something healthy before I go to a party so that I am not so hungery.

I allow myself to sample just one sweet item and then it is out of my system.
So I can gladly munch off of the veggie tray.
Suzy
I eat before I go and brush my teeth. I hate eating right after brushing 🙂
Alison
Try to maintain healthy eating habits throughout the holiday season so you can splurge a little on Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. Also, never go to a holiday party on an empty stomach.
Mary J
I also eat something before a go to a holiday party. Or head for the raw veggies at a party 1st.

If you’re going to go to a holiday party, it’s best to eat a little bit before you go, so that you don’t eat lots of unhealthy food at the party because you’re starving. Also keep drinking lots of water at the party, and that will keep you full.

Try not to overfill yourself. If you want dessert avoid the second helping on pototoes or cranberries.

I usually get one spoonful of everything so I don’t feel deprived and load up on the salad if I’m really hungry. I ask for a small slice of pumpkin pie and get the fat free whipped cream on it. I also enjoy walking around the neighborhood with my family and taking pictures which go on a caledar or become a page in one of my scrapbooks to remember what we did that year. That way I am exercising and creating great memories with my loved ones.

If I am the one cooking, I use the lower fat, lower sodium items, like the 1/3 fat cream cheese taste’s just as great as well as the campbells soup and the Hellmans mayo, no one know the difference!

#1 – I prefer drinking water with my meals most of the time. Water is good for you. And, if you’re drinking a lot of water, less room in your tummy for wasted calories elsewhere.

I’m not good at avoiding calories, but I try not to sample everything that I make for neighbors. That really adds up – a taste here and there. Just don’t sample your own snacks.

I will eat the healthy things at a party first, like the fruit and veggies tray, so I mostly fill up on that, then I only need a little bit of the not so good for me stuff so I don’t feel left out!

To avoid holiday calories, I never go to a holiday party or dinner starving. . .I eat mini meals throughout the day before the event (preferably with lots of protein and fresh veggies), and then I can enjoy a few of the treats at the event without going overboard
