September 30 by Cassie Leave a Comment

Yay – we just got notification that Restaurant.com is extending their 90% off sale by one more day through today too! If you missed this yesterday, you have one more chance. And this is quite the discount sale! Today Only, September 30th, 2011, you can grab your Restaurant.com certificates for 90% off!

To use this deal go to Restaurant.com, make sure you enter the Coupon Code: WOW that you can use to buy your certificates.

$10 (for a $25 certificate) – 90% OFF = $1

In addition, you can actually get these certificates for only .50 if you shop for your Restaurant.com certificates through ShopAtHome.com where they are offering 50% cash back! Head to the ShopAtHome.com site for your .50 rebate!

We have posted these details a number of times, but we wanted to keep posting this to share how these gift certificates work.

We wanted to share with you how these certificates work using one of our new favorites. First, one thing we love about this is the ability to try a new restaurant that we wouldn’t normally have visited.  As such, a couple of months ago we broke down and tried a local restaurant that serves home-style cooked meals.  The way this particular gift certificate worked was you needed to spend $35 to apply your $25 certificate (that you purchase at $2).  Well, mommy and daddy had a nice meal, the younger ones were able to have their new favorite kids meals, and we walked out spending $10 + $2 (for the certificate) + tip on the full price for a great meal!  For the food and service we received we had a nice family date night out for a great price!

Note:  Please make sure to check the terms and conditions as each certificate may have different requirements for using them.

I checked this out and found certificates for a fave restaurant of ours. With the minimum purchase being three times what we normally spend, plus they tack on a 18% gratuity whether the server earns it or not, it wouldn’t have been worth it for us 🙁

Yes – you do need to read the fine print for each restaurant certificate as some are wonderful and really easy and some have a lot of rules/restrictions. We know that some of our favs in our area are totally worth it in every way and others not so much!

URGENT BEWARE: I always check via google if people are blogging about scams about a business I’m about to give personal info. People are screaming SCAM for this one! I’m not gonna lie, it seems too good to be true. Have any of you successfully used your restaurant.com certificate? here’s one site I found http://www.thealmostmillionaire.com/is-restaurant-com-a-scam/

Yolande – we’ve had a ton of success with Restaurant.com. As long as you buy the ones you agree to the terms on, then it is a fabulous way to save. It isn’t a scam at all – most of the certificates are a $25 certificate for $10 (or only $1 for this sale), but you have to spend $35 at the restaurant to use the certificate, so in the end, a $35 meal costs $11 (as an example of one type of certificate). There are many that have bought them and thought that they were getting a straight across $25 to spend for $1, but almost all of them have a minimum meal purchase amount to redeem your certificate. It really works out well and saves big $$ when you just understand it. Hope that helps!

In addition, this was most likely an uniformed waitress, or a restaurant that was not wanting to participate after already agreeing to offer these certificates. They could have gone back to Restaurant.com for resolution 😉 (Unless the fine print really did say that that particular location was not included).
