Our friend Crystal from Money Saving Mom is conducting a “Clear Out The Clutter Challenge.” The timing is quite perfect and desperately needed! Thrifty Al and I were just discussing our need to get some organizing and decluttering done around here in the Thrifty House!
Our first project: The Thrifty Corner Kitchen Pantry! It is stuffed full, completely disorganized and we cannot even tell what we have in there, in fact yesterday, it is so full that I tried putting the corn syrup back on the shelf, closed the door and KABOOM!!! It feel off the shelf and broke all over the floor! And let me tell ya – corn starch is NOT a fun thing to mess with – it gets you into quite a sticky place!
It was right in the middle of me making dinner last night and I looked at it – threw my hands up and closed the pantry door wishin’ – you know the kind……that if you just ignore the mess, it will go away!
Well, Thrifty Al came home minutes later and opened the pantry and asked, “what happened here?” My response “what?” Ha – it didn’t go away, but my Thrifty Al came to the rescue and got himself in the sticky mess – thank goodness for awesome husbands because my wish did come true π
But…… we decided it was time to see what was cluttering those shelves and get it organized!
Please note: this is our kitchen pantry, not our Thrifty Store that is located downstairs! These are the odds and ends that migrate upstairs from the Thrifty Store – we will tackle that sometime, so stay tuned π
So here is The Thrifty Corner Kitchen Pantry BEFORE!!!!
Here is a full view of the pantry BEFORE!
Here is a close up of the top 2 shelves BEFORE!
Here is a close up of the 2 middle shelves BEFORE!
Here is a close up of the bottom of the pantry BEFORE!
It’s ok – you can scream – we won’t be offended!
So we will keep you posted on the results…….. join us with Money Saving Mom and feel free to leave a comment about projects you are working on!

Just a thought… you could be even thriftier if you drank filtered tap water through a Brita or any other type of filter, rather than pay the money to drink filtered tap water from a plastic bottle, than is really no better… just a thought:)

We do normally and have for years (both the pitcher and faucet mount)! But when you get bottled water cheap, no sense in not having some on hand when in need for on the go! Thank You! Great idea a super way to save π We use the bottled water a lot for our road trips we like to take. Saves oooodles of money 6 hours down the road!

Speaking of road trips…… part #2 of our Road Trip Thrifty Couple Style series is coming soon with tips like this π stay tuned!

Those are nice shelves (aside from the mess of course). I just joined in too. My whole house needs it.

Cassie if you are willing to take on the twins for an hour or so I would love to come over and help clean/organize that closet. I still dream of organizing your basement….one day I guess.

I would love too Amanda! Anytime – that is not the only closet to tackle π You know I have always wanted twins – would love to play with them!!! Just call me and let’s do it!
