Many of you may remember that we had a sweet baby boy earlier this year. He is now almost 9 months old and is celebrating his first Christmas. He’s so sweet and so cute! I can’t get enough of him!
Well, in the course of making this year’s ornaments with everyone, we wanted to make a special one for baby to display his newborn baby hospital stuff.
We just used some very basic supplies and was able to make a very special ornament for him this year. The ornament is plastic and was .88 at Walmart.
The baby even helped make it, although his help is more like an intervention with dad and big kids helping. We had to have dad holding him, one kid holding his hands and arms back, another holding is other foot back and one holding the foot to be painted perfectly still.
At 9 months old, he’s quite wiggly, curious and certainly wanted to get “all-in” on the paint. But somehow, we managed to get an adorable foot print of the right and the left foot without the rest of the house or all of us getting painted in the process.
So, if you can get your baby to cooperate, this will be easy. If not, recruit a staff for 5-mins to get a clean print. 🙂
Regardless of the process, the outcome is adorable! After his prints dried, we put his hospital band, hospital cap and hospital booty into the ornament.
Now you have a cute way to display these first of the firsts!
How have you made baby’s first ornament or how have you displayed/kept the hospital memories?
We had also made a second project with baby this year for Christmas, the Family Christmas Tree. You will have to watch the video as getting his prints is funny! 🙂

I have yet to have a kid but I think this DIY project would make a wonderful memory. I like the personalized aspect of the gift, especially since it commemorates such a special even like a first Christmas. I’ll have to share this post with my wife for potential ornament ideas.
