We live in a truly crazy day and age. We have so many options at our disposal to spend, earn, save and lose or forget about items around our home.
Many of us are sitting on money bags all around our home. It’s the American way (said with sarcasm) to have more than we need, forget what we have and be wasteful. Well, we have shared numerous ways on how to organize and clean-out your home, all while making a few bucks in the process. It only makes sense to cash in on the excess and make life simpler.
There is one area that is very often over-looked and could yield you a few hundred dinero in your pocket…that is if you are the average American!
Studies have been done for a few years regarding…..gift cards! Stats have been gathered on how much total spending, how many are redeemed, etc. Every year, there seems to be a consistent number of about 7-8% of gift cards that go unused. This number is ends up in the billions….yes, billions of unspent gift cards. So if you average this number out, we are talking around $300 of unused gift cards in each American Household.
You probably have some lying around your home that you have forgotten about! Dig these up! Your wallet, the bottomless pit (i.e. mom’s purse), the junk drawer, the desk….they are probably anywhere and everywhere.
Now what can you do with these gift cards? Well, first off, you can spend them! Second off, you can re-gift them! Or finally, consider cashing them in for actual, cold-hard cash!
If you are the average American with $300 worth of gift cards, you can cash in for about 90% of it back. That means you can get around $270 cash in your pocket.
Would an extra $270 help you right now? Spend it wisely. 🙂
There are a few different places to cash in your gift cards, but our top recommendation is a company we have used for a few years – CardPool.com.
In fact, not only do we sell unused gift cards there, but we also purchase them from here too! There are a handful of gift card buy-back companies out there, but Cardpool is the one that we have experienced and used. In fact, they are endorsed and highly rated gift card exchange company by top outlets like CNN, The New York Times, Mint.com, etc.
It is very easy and quick to exchange your gift card for cash. You can even do an electronic transfer, avoid mailing out the gift cards and receive payment within one business day. So if you need cash fast too, this is the way to do it!
They are also guaranteed to the buyer. Because it is a gift card exchange, they do all they can to ensure the gift cards are unused, valid and ready. We’ve bought dozens over the years and haven’t experienced one problem with any of them. But if you happen to come across one that they have verified, but then someone still has the card number and uses it before you (because there are dishonest people out there), your gift card is guaranteed and you are not out the money you paid for the gift card. If you are interested in buying gift cards for up to 35% off….we have a coupon code to also get you $5 off your first purchase! Discounted gift cards PLUS $5 off? Well, what are you waiting for?!? The extra $5 discount is HERE.

Great tips! Do you know if Cardpool would take gift cards that are partially used?

Why was the phrase “American way” and “average American” used multiple times in such a disrespectful manner? We got it the first time you said it. Lately the trendy thing is to bash the American culture. I’m so tired of being told that being American means we are lazy, greedy people who eat garbage and are wasteful. There are positives and negatives to every culture.
