Amazon is offering what they call The Big Deal. Through July 27, 2011, Amazon is offering over 900 Kindle titles for as low as $0.99. Check out the following links so you can go right to the price range you are looking for:
Don’t have a Kindle? No need to!
Don’t worry if you don’t have a Kindle. You can download Kindle applications to your PC, Mac, Android, even your toaster (well, maybe that’s pushing it a bit far). But maybe you’re asking why you should? Well, I’m not ready to tell you to sell all your books and download them on Kindle. But, I must admit the last few months I have been finding my reading on my Kindle applications (which I don’t have a Kindle either, so that takes care of the “I don’t have a Kindle” excuse :)) spread over my different systems. Yes, one thing I enjoy is reading on my computer in the comfort of my own home. But then when I’m out running errands and standing in line somewhere, I can whip out my Android phone and automatically pick up exactly where I left off at home and keep reading. Most books will allow you to sync your purchased book on up to six different devices running the Kindle application.
I also love the dictionary feature. You can mock me if you wish, but when I run across a word that I need some further information on, instead of running to the dictionary I can simply click on the word and the definition automatically pops up.
Obviously I haven’t even covered highlighting, searching for specific words, checking out Kindle books later this year from over 11,000 libraries, etc. But I hope what this does is pique your interest (if you had the Kindle app you could look up pique!) as to some of the advantages an electronic book on Kindle might have over the book in your hand.
If you are at all interested, I’ve compiled some links below to help you get started on downloading the Kindle to your favorite device (all for FREE):
- Information regarding downloading Kindle to your Mac
- Information regarding downloading Kindle to your PC
- Information regarding downloading Kindle to other devices
If you don’t believe me then just try it and let us know what you think. What’s great about The Big Deal is you can try reading on the Kindle application for cheap!
I would love to hear your opinion on whether you love reading on your electronic device or still yearn for the feel of the pages in your hand as you sip your favorite beverage by the fire (obviously you can sip the same beverage by the same fire with your e-reader as well. :))
