Zaycon has been closed for over a month now. We do not have any updates as to the status of the company. It is assumed that they are likely declaring bankruptcy, but there is no official word anywhere. However, I think it is safe to say that they are not coming back. Even if they attempted, I am pretty sure there would be an outcry and quite and uproar, thus a comeback would not be possible.
We posted about what you need to know and do with the closing of Zaycon about a month ago. We walked you through the steps to get your money back. Most everyone we have heard from has been able to get their money back. However, there are a few of you that are having continued troubles. One of those has been our friend Katie. She has gained a lot of experience going through this process of trying to get her money back. So Katie has offered to write this post to try and help those that haven’t gotten money back.
In addition, before we get into Katie’s guest post, I did want to mention that I am doing something crazy – I am starting and organizing my own bulk meat co-op for different communities across the country. I was a customer of Zaycon’s for so long, that many of the things I complained about were many of the things that brought them down. As such, I know what needs to be done to do it right. Starting off with no corporate investors or corporate operation. Just real moms and dads that want to bring something back…but this “something” is FAR better (like not having to order and pay months in advance, pay and pick up the same day and even trimmed chicken). I am just starting this process and have a private Facebook page to stay in communication with those interested in a BETTER option than Zaycon with better quality meat AND even organic and 100% grass fed.
If you are interested in learning about what I am up to, then please feel out this google form to help me gauge interest:
Community Bulk Meat Buying Co-Op Interest Form HERE
Once I can get enough people to say they are interested, I can officially organize community meat buying co-ops. 🙂
And now hopefully this guest post will help the rest of you that have not been able to get your money back yet.
It’s been a month without any news since Zaycon Fresh closed. What does that mean for you? How do you get your money back from Zaycon?
Zaycon Fresh Closed
June 25, 2018, Zaycon Fresh all but disappeared from the internet, posting only a notice at their website landing page informing visitors that they were suspending business.
Suddenly, there was a horde of shocked customers with unfulfilled orders and some legitimate concerns. Those that were expecting orders on the 25th received a cancellation notice that morning, tipping them off that something was not right.
It was not until June 26th with the arrival of an “Event Cancelled” email that most customers understood that there would be no delivery of their pre-purchased products. There was no mention of a refund. There were questions of “How do you get your money back from Zaycon?”
The most recent news on Zaycon at this point is not all that recent, but it gives a better understanding of what to expect.
What That Means For You
As customers, the only recourse at this point is to request a refund. But how?
How do you get your money back from Zaycon?
Credit Card Companies
If you put in your order with a credit card, you should be golden. Most major credit card companies are prepared to protect their card users from fraud and bad business. So, give your company a call and let them know what is happening.
Banks (Debit Cards)
With banks, it’s not so easy and there are a few extra steps :
- Contact the company. Many banks will require you to attempt through all reasonable means to request a refund before they get involved. In this case, Zaycon made it pretty easy by pulling down all of their social media pages; now, the only reasonable means of contact are to call the company or email the address offered on their webpage. At this point, Zaycon is not responding, giving answers or updates. But do it, anyway…
- Call your bank. As soon as possible, contact your bank to file a dispute. Keep in mind there is a window to claim these charges and that should start on the day of your “Event Cancelled” email on June 26th. *If your bank is claiming that you are not entitled to file a dispute because you are past the window from the date of the original transaction or the pick-up date has not yet passed, here are your rights by law and specific directions to work with your bank.
- Wait. If your bank allowed you to file a dispute – great! If they gave you a provisional credit – good! Sadly, many such Zaycon customers are thinking that they received a refund from their bank and they can move on. However, that money might not be yours to keep, which is the case for most of us. *The best action to take is to talk the provisional credit over with your bank and set that money aside.
What It Means For Me
I’m gonna be real with you: even if I could choose between Zaycon‘s bacon and getting my money back, I’d choose the bacon. Like every time. It was good, y’all.
Eternal optimist though I may be, I am still hoping that although Zaycon Fresh closed for business, they will still choose to issue refunds and apologies. Should another company step up to offer the same quality of meat at those incredible prices, I’ll be all over it.
But this time, I will be ordering my bacon with a credit card. So, if this debacle happens again, the only thing I will be mourning is the loss of bacon…
