We’re all about saving money over here….I mean saving serious amounts of money! And if you look in the right places, you can save a serious amount of money. You can even save serious amounts of money in unexpected places. In places that you perhaps deal with every single day.
But that’s the beauty of what I am about to share with you today. The idea behind having one toothbrush for the whole family to share is one of those unexpected, money saving secrets. However, it is not just about saving money. There are some other positive and convincing reasons that extend beyond the money factor.
We want to lay it all out for you to convince you that this is the way to go with family tooth care.
It Saves Money
Let’s talk about the first point…well, first! By sharing a family toothbrush, you are going to be laughing at others all the way to the bank when you get to deposit extra amounts of money that you did not spend and for finding this secret to savings that we bet others have not even thought of! Think about it, you are saving an extra $2-3 dollars per person on the “premium” toothbrushes. Just imagine taking this extra out of your budget and depositing it into your savings instead! Just this reason alone is so worth the switch to a shared family toothbrush.
It Fights Germs
I love this reason. Switching to a shared family toothbrush has made our bodies stronger because we have forced our bodies to fight many extra uninvited germs. But after a couple of years of being super sick….we are finally moving towards the healthy end of being able to fight off a good chunk of the harboring sicknesses that are found in our mouths and reaping this benefit of a family shared toothbrush.
It Makes For A Smoother Bedtime Routine
Before switching to a shared family toothbrush, bedtime was a nightmare! Everyone was running around berserk, fighting over use of the sink, fighting to grab toothbrushes, fighting over toothpaste, bumping into each other, stepping on toes while we were pulling our hair out trying to get them to calm down… we were actually repeating the words that we should have been doing all along – “just share!” The answer was right under our noses the whole time. “Just share” and boy when we did, all of the sudden those routine problems disappeared! I mean now, the kids stand in a line, one at a time at the sink. One uses the toothbrush, passes to the next in line, finishes and passes to the next until it reaches daddy. Then everyone stayed out of everyone’s way and we all got our teeth cleaned in a timely and relaxed manner.
Keeps The Bathroom Organized
Yes, we are a family of 8, so this was a HUGE factor for us! But…it’s not just for big families. Even a family of 2 can benefit from this next point. Have you ever thought about how completely and utterly annoying it is to organize the tooth care? I mean, they make the toothbrush holders in the stores incredibly impractical for more than one toothbrush and toothpaste. Perhaps it’s because we are truly meant to have one per household. That’s how these holders are designed and that’s what we should be practicing.
I can tell you, this point has been revolutionary for our family. A more organized bathroom?!? It is seriously so great. People pay good money to professional organizers, when one big, key thing they need to do is scale back on the number of toothbrushes and toothpaste! Your bathroom organization problem practically solves itself!
Have we convinced you yet to switch to one communal family toothbrush?
If not… here’s one final point!
Happy April 1st (a.k.a. Happy April Fool’s Day:)
Yes, friends, this is 100%, without a doubt, completely a joke! Please DO NOT share a toothbrush.
We are not normally practical jokesters, however, last April 1st, I woke up and read an article on sharing a family toothbrush that I was disgusted and floored by. But I believed this family really did, until the end. Then I truly had the laugh of the day and it made my whole day.
We hope we have given you a bit of entertainment today. 🙂 Now go entertain your friends and tell them about your family’s latest “communal toothbrush craze” too.
Dorothy

Oh my you totally got me and I was scared! ha ha
Cassie
When my kids woke up, I had them read the article and the whole time (before the end) they were saying…”mom, seriously…I don’t want to do this!” Then they were laughing. 😉
Paula
Ha ha, I wish I had thought to have my eight year-old read this before I spilled the beans. As it was, I was reading it half out loud in absolute horror, muttering, “You’ve got to be kidding me!” Good one, you sure got me!
Cassie
Ha ha! 🙂
Dawn
Wow, I almost stopped reading before I got to the end– I was so grossed out, lol! I was going to offer to buy your family toothbrushes I was so disgusted lol! 🙂
Cassie
Ha, Ha! Thanks for thinking of us but no, we have more than enough toothbrushes. I stock up when they are very cheap and so we never run out. But I’m glad I gave you a laugh today…along with a few raised eyebrows. 😉
Lynda
Way to funny!! I fell for it thinking, Wow! Talk about being thrifty! Gag!
Cassie

You had me going.. esp. w/the stronger immune system because of intro of more germs. My mom used to say,” you got to eat a peck of dirt…to stay healthy.

Cassie
Ha ha! Yes, that’s why I threw that in there – the old adage that a little bit of germs makes you stronger. 🙂 Let’s just get them in more natural ways, not this! LOL
