Have you heard of Listia before? Well, we have recently heard about it, actually about a hundred times from comments, emails and messages that we have been getting from our readers. They have raved about it and so we thought we would finally investigate it and let you know about it.
We have mentioned taking advatange of your local classifieds for both free and discounted stuff as well as local Facebook groups and freecycle.org site.
Well, Listia is the same, but a bit different of a concept and potential great way to go and combines the ideas behind the free marketplace and Ebay.
Well, to give you the simplest summary of what Listia is, we turn to Wikipedia: “Listia.com is an online marketplace for trading goods between individuals, by using a virtual credit system instead of real money. The marketplace uses an auction system where users bid on each other’s items until the auction ends and the highest bidder wins. The user who listed the item then arranges for a pickup or ships the item directly to the winner.”
Many have had success in selling their items and gaining credits towards their future purchases from others on Listia. It is basically a FREE ebay!
It looks like it is a very simple site to use and is a great way to get rid of clutter in your home and turn it into things you may need without spending a dime! It is basically a “trading” market that gives you a value of the item you are trading in to equal an item of value elsewhere in the marketplace. However, with the use of credits, you can get a more fair trade.
You don’t have to immediately sell something on Listia for credits, you can earn credits in other ways too!
First, they are giving all new members 1,000 free credits to use in the marketplace. You can join here and get your 1,000 credit bank started for free.
Then they do have other “non-selling” ways to earn more credits:
Anyway, we always love hearing about more frugal and thrifty ways to get the things you need and in this case, the extra benefit of decluttering!
Head to the Listia site HERE to check it out and get your 1,000 starting credits!
