It has been INSANE for us the last few days. Thrifty Al came home from work last Wed. and found a flier on our door for a neighborhood garage sale that was starting at 7 am on Saturday. Of course we wanted to take advantage of it as it meant FREE advertising and signage, which would normally run around $40 in total with newspaper advertisments, etc.
So the kids and I spent Thursday during the day cleaning out cupboards, drawers and all the rooms on the main levels and then when Thrifty Al came home, we cleaned out our basement…. it was a late night. The next day, the kids and I organized and cleaned out some more and that night we were up until around 1:30 to prepare for the sale by 7 am.
We woke up around 6 am on Saturday to pull everything outside to begin the sale and it was super busy!! It was a blessing all around, but extremely exhausting to pull together that much work in the short amount of time. We purged ourselves of soooo much in our effort to try and simplify our lives. It was a great excuse to fast forward this purging project.
As such, our sale did not end until 4pm. We cleaned up, went out to dinner to celebrate (and neither of us could bear the thought of more work!). We got home at 7 pm. We were soooo tired that we decided to just take a “little nap” then get up and do some blogging and announce the giveaway winners, etc. But our little nap found us to be awake at 7:30 am the next morning! We literally slept over 12 hours without a wink! Wowza – it was a shock to see sunlight – for a few seconds I wasn’t sure if I slept for 12 minutes or 12 hours.
So with a two-day notice, we cleaned out our house and basement! It feels great now, but it was sure exhausting…..
Now with that long story……. we are announcing the giveaway winners now 🙂
First, the Yoplait GoGurt Gift pack winner is……
Congratulations to Emily F (afreelove@) for winning this gift pack.
Second, the Fun Fabulous Friday winner from Friday the 10th.
Congratulations to Lisa (tlisaann@) for winning the $10 Amazon gift card. For this Friday, in lieu of us purging, organizing and getting ready to have a garage sale, we thought it would be fun if everyone shared their organizational tips. They are really, really awesome, helpful and needed! Be sure to head to the original post to see all of the wonderful tips!
Here is Lisa’s great tip:
“We have a storage unit. Anything that is not being used goes into storage. We also keep empty diaper boxes and as our boys outgrow toys and clothes we box them up and give them away. We also do the same for our clothes.”
