Can you believe that we are at day #18? We have made it this far and we are going strong! It will be so great to see, enjoy and reap the benefits after this is over…. but we hope you are already enjoying the benefits!
Well, let’s get on with task #18!
Day #18 Challenge – Organize Living Area Bookcases/Shelves
Living room bookcase before
Let me start off by saying that books are a top passion in our house. We know we live in a day and age of ebooks, and we have plenty of those. But the real thing is still the preferred favorite in our house! We have many floor to ceiling bookcases in one of our basement rooms – we actually call it the library. Plus, after we got out of debt, one of the first things we saved for was a totally new bedroom set – including bookcases. It was a sweet treat after all of that hard work and then to pay cash for the whole bedroom reward. Well, Alex really, really, really wanted bookcases in our room, so one wall is also covered in three full-size floor to ceiling bookcases. With all of that, we are still running out of room!
This bookcase that we are talking about is the living area bookcase – like one that is in your living or family room. We encourage you to organize this today. Our little living room case is in the central location of our house and the books are actually double stacked (you can see a little of the double stacking). Well, it definitely needed a re-organization!
So that’s what we did!
Some of the books went to the “home library” if they were part of a set that someone was reading and then stuck it in here instead of putting it with the set. Some went to the kids’ rooms on book shelves and ultimately we got it all back in order and organized.
Again, another task that does not take long, but can make a big difference to the look and feel of your home and one step close to being organized!
