Well today, we want to share another take on hot cocoa that is entirely different! It can still be frugal as it uses common ingredients that are decently affordable, but this recipe is made fresh and makes for a super creamy, incredibly rich and tasty hot cocoa journey! Stovetop Peppermint White Chocolate Hot Cocoa!
I know, just the name and though of it alone makes my mouth water….so I am sure your’s is too. This is a show-stopping version of hot cocoa! In fact, it’s a magical type of recipe because as soon as I smell it and start drinking it…Jingle Bells plays in my head and I can’t stop it! Then I am fueled up and ready to “build a snowman.” It’s that much of an impactful recipe!
It’s perfect for gatherings, holidays, post-sledding/skiing, parties, dinners, kids events… you name, there is never a time in the winter that this wouldn’t be a hit!
Ingredients needed for Stovetop Peppermint White Chocolate Hot Cocoa:
- 4 cups of milk, your choice
- 8 oz. white chocolate, chopped (or white chocolate chips)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, crushed peppermints, marshmallows
Directions for Stovetop Peppermint White Chocolate Hot Cocoa:
1. Stir the milk and white chocolate together in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a simmer and the chocolate is melted. Do not let it come to a boil or let the chocolate burn the bottom.
2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and peppermint extracts.
3. Serve warm with additional toppings as desired.
