Cheese balls are a wonderful and frugal snack to bring to any get together, gathering, party, potluck, etc.! We love cheese balls, but buying them can be quite expensive when they are actually super easy and much cheaper to make!
So I wanted to share our own recipe for our own cheese ball creation that get’s eaten up like crazy whenever we serve it – the Bacon Ranch Cheese Ball!
I actually use my KitchenAid mixer to make it even easier, but you can mix by hand or a hand mixer if you don’t have a KitchenAid.
First, you will want a ranch packet….. or better yet, our homemade ranch mix for this recipe. The homemade ranch mix is also easy, frugal and super tasty! I use this in my kitchen all of the time and not just for salad dressing. Having this one hand makes cooking so much more savory and tasty!
Anyway, let’s get on with the rest of the recipe!
Ingredients for Bacon Ranch Cheese Ball:
- 2 8oz. packages of cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 pouch of dry ranch mix or 2 TBSP of homemade ranch mix
- 1 TBSP of minced garlic
- 1/2 cup of diced green onion
- 4 slices of cooked bacon (or about 1/2 cup of bacon crumbles)
How to make Bacon Ranch Cheese Ball:
- Start by mixing the 2 packages of cream cheese in a mixer to soften them up even more.
- Then add the dry Ranch Mix to the cream cheese and mix until well blended.
- Add the garlic, green onion and cheddar cheese and mix again.
- Once it is well blended, you are ready to form it into a ball!
- HERE’s the TRICK – get out a piece of wax paper, spray it with cooking spray.
- Dump the cheese ball onto the wax paper.
- Then form a ball by forming the greased wax paper around the ball. This way, you don’t have to touch it and get all dirty and get the cheese ball all sticky! It really works well.
- Then place the cheese ball on your serving tray. If need be, you can use the greased side of the wax paper to smooth out the cheeseball while it is in place.
- Then crumble the bacon and get a hand full and literally smother the ball in the bacon until all of the surfaces are covered.
- Keep refrigerated until ready to serve!
- Serve with crackers or breads and enjoy!
How easy is that? It costs far less than a store-bought version and tastes much better too!
