Welcome to day #11 of the 30-day organization challenge. It’s a time to move into a new area of the home! It is so great to see some amazing progress with just a few minutes of effort each day!
Today’s challenge is going to be divided into two days so that it is just a little task each day.
Day #11 Challenge – Organize the Half the Bathroom Drawers
This will work whether you have one or many bathrooms, just organize half of the drawers. We have three bathrooms, but only six total drawers, two large and four small. Which is funny because in our previous home, we two bathrooms, but seven drawers (four large and two small). Our very first residence ever – an apartment, had one bathroom with five large drawers. So I am thinking that no matter how many bathrooms you have, the drawers may work out to be about the same for all. 🙂
I actually organized the two large drawers first as I considered this about half!
Large bathroom drawers before
This was a fun task because I found so many items! I actually started sorting the excess of stuff. For example: tooth care, lotions, skin care, small bottles shampoo/conditioner, eye care, samples that are great to have for guests, to have on hand when you run out or to use up before buying more, great for going to the gym, etc. I sorted these and took them out of these drawers and only left what we are actually using right now! Then when we need something, we can go to our basement storage and grab more. But I think what was happening, we just threw excess stuff that we found or brought home into these drawers and it piled up quickly and got out of control. It now feels great to have it organized and to have a good supply of stuff when needed in a location that makes more sense.

Now guess what? There are only two more spots left in the kitchen the rest of this work week and then we are ready to move on to another area! I can’t wait to get out of the kitchen, but so happy to see the drawers and cupboards again!

Thanks for getting me motivated! Each challenge has been a challenge but I see progress and feel the stress dissipating! Thanks.

YAY! That is so great MJ. It is so nice to get organized and it is truly amazing how it changes your outlook and stress levels, I couldn’t agree more! Thanks for sharing and keep it up!

Some of these organizing tasks don’t apply to us with smaller homes… my wife and I are going to try this once they are all posted but we are going to modify some to fit our compact house.
Cassie
That is perfect Mitchell! And exactly what we hope others will do too. We all have a totally different home. The point is just to do a little something and we hope these tasks will give you direction and motivation, but adapt to your situation. Thanks for sharing and giving others inspiration!

I use Rubbermaid interlocking drawer organizers (or something similar) in my drawers (bathroom, kitchen, office). I can usually fit a couple of longer ones and a couple of small square organizers in my bathroom drawers (we have narrow drawers). That way I can contain especially the smaller items to keep them from migrating elsewhere. I have one larger container in the cupboard below each sink for the deod., hairspray, gel, etc.

Hey guys,
I am a few days behind, but am really enjoying this and finding it very motivating. Thank you!

I think the point is to just do something. I found that my kitchen wasn’t so disorganized because I had done the things you have been suggesting in the kitchen about a year ago. The main thing I did in the kitchen was to dust and whip out the cupboards and drawers. I had already gotten rid of unwanted things in my kitchen last year. Then with the extra time I have been cleaning, dusting and organizing my basement area where we have a large office area we haven’t been using for over a year. It’s just fun to organize something that has been driving you nuts even if it isn’t exactly what is on the list to do. Thanks for helping us to do something constructive!!!
