Wow, wow, wow! What a beautiful, practical, thrifty way to repurpose old pallets and walk away with gorgeous new wood floors! We are definitely impressed to say the least!
That is the feature DIY project that we are sharing with you today! This project was from A Building We Shall Go site. It is basically a story of a family that lost their home in a fire in 2012 and they are rebuilding their lives…. literally. The old adage comes to mind “necessity is the mother of invention.”
They are on a tight budget as they do what they can to create their lives again. The idea of putting in these new wooden floors from old pallets was a very economical, unique and thrifty way to solve the expensive new flooring problem.
We hope that this is inspiration for you as you find ways of creating new out of old!
This project took them quite a while between breaking down the pallets, prepping, developing a pattern, laying the floor, finishing the floor and completion.
They blogged about the whole experience and process in a few blog posts, but you will find all of the information needed to learn how to make your own floor from repurposed pallets and see several pictures of the process and final project on their site A Building We Shall Go HERE.
Absolutely Amazing Finished Project!

We are blessed by those who share our floor.
We do love our floor and are very proud of our work!
Thanks much for the feature!

Wow – that is seriously impressive and I never would have guessed that floor came from old pallets! You did a great job.

Pallets are often sprayed with toxic chemicals. One must be cautious about their use in the home due to off gassing.
Your kids and pets will thank you 😉

My husband works at a pallet shop and it is now illegal to use chemicals to treat wood for pests, and has been for years. There will be a stamp on the side of the pallet that says it is heat treated.

I’m actually a big fan of hardwood and similar solutions. They are durable, eco-friendly and look simple at 100%
I wouldn’t go for something like yours. I’ve seen great material options on local company websites. You can read more here to understand what I’m talking about.
