Happy New Year to all of us!
It’s time for one of our most favorite deals of the year!
Zaycon foods is having their most popular signature sale right now. This is great news for us and for you because THIS is our favorite chicken sale, THIS is how we stock-up on chicken to feed our family of 7 and at a very affordable price for high quality natural chicken!
Let us tell you about it, because a smart frugal home should look at this option vs. buying chicken in the grocery store. This is probably also going to be better options than other local chicken sources as it is natural, no added hormones, additive or artificial ingredients. So it is a good alternative to organic when you can pay $1.89 for good chicken boneless, skinless chicken breast vs. the $5-$7 per lb. price for certified organic. In fact, it is actually cheaper than many grocery store low quality, unnatural chicken breasts. You really cannot go wrong. We love the taste, quality and freshness that our family has grown accustomed to. We have been buying it for the past several years and have had no need to buy chicken in the store.
This chicken is sold via Zaycon Foods which is a nationwide company that provides fresh chicken, beef, pork and seafood to families at an affordable price. Their meat is higher quality and in some cases a natural option. They only have meat offerings at certain times of the year and for a certain type of meat. The last natural chicken breast sale was in the fall. You do not know how often or when they will have these sales
Well, right now is their Trademark Event where they are selling 100% Natural Chicken that has no added hormones, no added additives and no artificial ingredients for the low price of $1.89 each lb.
The way that this works is that you place your order and then you will pick up your order from a local pick-up site as they are delivered to the area fresh. This is an AMAZING price per lb. for this quality of chicken breasts. You do need to order in 40lb. cases and you can get multiple cases. This comes out to be $75.60 each 40lb. box.
We are getting 1 box this time, sometimes we get two. We still have some left from the sale many months ago. One 40 lb. box will last our family for 3 months, and Zaycon seems to offer this sale about every 3 months, so we should be good until the next sale.
We freeze half of the chicken raw in ziplocs and the other box we cook it all up and chop it up and have cooked cubed or shredded chicken which makes dinner so much easier as this is always the hardest part for me (defrosting and cooking the meat). So the days I have very little time, the cooked chicken is the answer.
We highly encourage you to look into this and to place your orders soon as they sell out of this product. One time, I waited too long and the locations that were 3, 15, 25 minutes away were sold out and I had to go with the fourth option that was 45 minutes away, when I literally had an option up the road. It was still worth the 45 minute drive, however, I don’t wait any longer because I want to pick-up close to home and order before they sell out.
Here’s details about the chicken that they offer (this information is from their site):
Our Trademark Event
• 100 % natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients
• Comes directly from the processor and has never been frozen
• Sold by the case — 40 lbs in each case
• Case dimensions—18 in wide x 12 in deep x 7 in tall
[NOTE: Our chicken is delivered in its original wholesale packaging, a water resistant cardboard case containing three or four plastic bags of fresh chicken breasts. The smaller bags are typically sealed in a larger plastic bag. The smaller bags are not uniform in weight. There will be small amounts of naturally occurring liquids (i.e.,”chicken juice”) in each bag and case. Chicken breasts typically come in double-lobed pairs (“butterfly”) and will have small attached amounts of fat.]
Just as we have mentioned many times in our classes, we rarely buy meat at the store. Between our beef supply from a local farmer or the ground beef from Zaycon, and these opportunities to buy chicken in bulk, we are set for most meals. Most all of our weekly budget goes to the fresh produce and dairy and small portion to the coupon items that we use!
Head to the Zaycon Site HERE and register (or log-in if already a member).
You have to be registered to see the prices, pickup and delivery details and dates for your area and additional details.
Don’t miss this event as it is only open for orders the next few days and then it will be gone again for a while!

http://www.jillcataldo.com/node/28646 I thought I heard of them before, and this is just one site among many. Please check into their meat practices. Pink slime, mistreatment of animals among others. I would never recommend a company that is known for cruelty to animals or that has less that scrupulous business practices. Now this has me wondering about my trust in you >,<

Hi Sheryl,
We’ve been buying the chicken from them for a long time and compared to the quality and practices of meats sold in the store, this is a much better option. The above link is related to a recall on ground beef from one of their beef sources many months ago. It also looks like they perhaps had a batch of ground beef during the summer that indeed have pink slime. I appears that they have changed their claims on their ground beef as I haven’t seen the “no-pink slime” claim on their beef since. I didn’t see the cruelty to animals in the link. It looks like they did handle the recall that affected many retailers of the ground beef. I never like hearing about those things and recalls that do happen.
As far as the claims, I haven’t seen anything in this regard to the chicken. In fact, I would be very, very concerned about the chicken you buy in the store instead.
We know hundreds of people that use Zaycon foods and this would be the first time we have ever heard anything negative about them in all of our years of dealing with them, their foods and their company. We also know many people that work with and for Zaycon personally and have yet to hear of any of the above claims. There is a video on their site about the process the chicken goes through. I would not stop buying from Zaycon to replace with store meats. No way.
We do buy our beef from a local farmer. If I had a similar local chicken option like that with an affordable price, I would go with it. Other than a $5-$6 per lb. option, I do not have that available to me, like most everyone would. This chicken is never frozen and only a few days from processing to you. There are no additives, no hormones and no artificial anything. The same can certainly not be said for store chicken, other than organic at the $5-$6 price tag. They buy from local farmers and then ship directly to you – so the process is only a few days, unlike store meats that are a few weeks.
After reading through the above links, nothing has surprised or concerned me. It looks like there was a recall and they eventually posted information about it on the ground beef over the summer. I may question beef purchases in the future through them as I like that it is super lean, but if I have other options locally with grass-fed beef, then I will probably stick to that. But if it was between Zaycon ground beef and the grocery store, I would go with Zaycon. The same farms that take care of their beef are not the same as their chicken.
Again, you would be the first person to ever point out any potentially negative thing as we heard nothing but rave reports for about 1.5 years before we tried it, then we tried it a few years ago and haven’t looked back. This will be #6 or #7 times of making this exact purchase for our family. Since then, hundreds have given testimonies to us about this chicken and everyone is pleased and happy.
You can certainly still trust us as we are picky about what we post and trust ourselves and don’t just post anything and everything. Almost everything we talk about, post about or mention, we have personally done ourselves and can give personal testimony to it. Trust me, there have been several “bad” experiences and we don’t post about that product/deal/company or if we have we take it back 🙂
Thank you for your concern and updates! We appreciate your comment and hopefully gave you our perspective and experiences.

By the way – we were not a part of the “free meat for reviews” for bloggers either. 🙂
