I love the Christmas Season! All of the sights, sounds and….smells! Cranberries are one of my favorites and so I am wanting to share all of these very lovely, in-season, recipes with you, including today’s Sparkling Holiday Jam recipe. Plus, foodie gifts are awesome and even more awesome when they are handmade.
So we’ve also turned this into a frugal gift idea – they only take about 20 minutes to make! Then add a bow and a tag and you’ve got a very lovely gift!
These are half-pint jars. I have purchased these often at Hobby Lobby for 50% off and end up being around .74-$1 each. They have a glass sale about every 3-4 weeks that will give you 50% off all of their glass jars. This is when I grab these!
This recipe combines a jam favorite – strawberries, with a holiday favorite – cranberries.
Here’s how to make Sparkling Holiday Jam
Ingredients for Sparkling Holiday Jam:
- 2 ½ quarts strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 – 12 oz. package cranberries (fresh or frozen)
- 5 pounds sugar
- 2 – 3 oz. packages liquid fruit pectin
Additional materials needed for Sparkling Holiday Jam:
- Mason jars
- Printable Gift Labels (hole-punched) – print on white cardstock for best results
- Decorative ribbon or strong glue to attach labels to jars or lids
Directions for Sparkling Holiday Jam:
1. In a food processor, pulse the strawberries and cranberries. Depending on preference, fruit may be processed to a finely chopped texture for a chunkier jam, or completely smooth.
2. Pour the processed fruit into a large heavy-bottomed pot. Add sugar over medium-high heat, bring the fruit and sugar mixture to a full rolling boil. Boil for 1 minute.
3. Remove the pot from the heat and add the liquid fruit pectin, stirring to mix completely.
4. Allow the jam to cool for 5 minutes, and then skim off the layer of foam on the top.
5. Quickly ladle the hot jam mixture into sterile half-pint jars, leaving ¼ inch headspace. Wipe jar rims clean, cover with lids and screw on the jar bands. Process the jars for 5 minutes in a boiling water bath.
Now that we’ve shared the recipe with you, you might want to turn this into a gift and so we wanted to help save you time and money and provide free gift tags!

This looks great! I usually make a big batch of strawberry freezer jam each spring after we go to our local strawberry patch. I’ll have to add this recipe to my repertoire. I’m pinning for future reference!

Should the recipe say 5 cups of sugar, not 5 pounds?
