Vertical gardening is a great way to grow food in a tight space or to have a flourishing and pretty flower/plant garden. This is also a great thing for a semi-indoor garden during the winter months in the garage. Heartier plants can be planted in these in the winter in the garage and then can easily be moved outside later in the year for your more weather sensitive plants and enjoy a year round garden.
There are lots of ideas on how to build a vertical garden. So today we wanted to highlight this DIY idea for a homemade version that is practical, sturdy and easy to do!
This is a basic vertical planter, but the end result is a very nice, space saving, money saving version. This planter was made by Katie from Ruffles and Truffles.
You can get 2 stair stringers at Home Depot or Lowe’s for less than $20 new. These are the treated ones, so they will also last longer outside in the changing weather conditions. Other than the stair stringers, there are only a few other basic supplies and a few basic steps you have made a stair-tiered vertical garden.
You can see the complete step-by-step instructions and supplies for this project on the Ruffles and Truffles site HERE.
