What an awesome repurposing DIY idea! There are not many successful ways to use broken chairs, but this idea and creation is very practical, useful, decorative and just pure lovely!
This DIY idea was done by Jami over at An Oregon Cottage! This has been a very popular DIY idea that she did, that she has actually received quite a few noticeable compliments – including and upcoming feature in the July issue of Old House Journal. So be watching for her project in there!
So, how did she make this? She shares just how easy it was to turn broken chairs into something new and fabulous.
Using leftover wood slats from an IKEA project, they joined the two chairs to form a french style bench. Then they built the bottom shelves. Once built, they painted the bench (in this case white).
For the seat, they made a fabric covered plywood seat. Later, she made a thick mattress like pad for an extra cushiony bench!
See more details on how she made hers and the finishing she did on her site at An Oregon Cottage.
