February 4 by Cassie Leave a Comment

We posted this back in January, but we wanted to post this today as we got word that there is a coupon code for 25% off and free shipping with $40 orders for new users.  The coupon code is: 25OFF.

Read below for the information we posted previously and our experience with what we bought! Please note, you cannot use your $10 AND the 25% off – so you can use the 25% off and free shipping today, which will be more than a $10 value and then you will have a $10 credit in your account for future use too!

We’ve mentioned ThredUp before on our site.  In fact, we also mentioned it as a tip to save that was featured in the July 2012 issue of ALL YOU magazine (pictured above)!

Well, since then, they have now decided to make this a no-brainer kind of used clothing opportunity by not only allowing free membership, but they are giving you a FREE $10 to spend on their site for trying them out! This is FANTASTIC news, especially if you are a family of 7 with 5 little kids like us who go through clothing so quickly! This free $10 will make for some free clothing.  It also will help to cover shipping, so if you find a lower priced item around $3-$4, you can walk away with paying nothing for a gently used high quality clothing item (like the example of these shirts below – there are thousands of options!)

Registration is easy and FREE. It is important that you verify your registration by checking your email immediately after and clicking on the link to verify your FREE membership and to get your free $10 credit to spend to and enjoy the freebies or really, really low clothing deals you can get!

Well, we went on a shopping spree to ThredUp using the leftover/carry over clothing budget from the 2012 year, which was perfect as our daughter who is 9 needed many new things and so we were thrilled with the results.  The prices were right, they were in EXCELLENT shape and exactly as described.  I have no complaints…which can be tough when you are buying used kids clothes.

As far as the prices go, I would say that the prices are obviously far below retail and comparable to higher end consignment or thrift stores.   I often spend time in cheap thrift stores and can rarely find nice children’s clothing as it is picked through and the very worn stuff is usually left.  So this was like a dream for me being able to do thrift store shopping, and search and look through exactly what I was looking for in the exact sizes.

Here’s what we got for our 9-year old:

Old Navy Long Black Skirt for $5.99

Buyer Girl Brown Skirt for $5.99

Joe Boxer Skirt for $3.99

My Michelle Dress for $5.99

Rare Editions Blue Dress for $10.99

Rare Editions Red Dress with Cover $12.99

Children’s Place Purple Convertible Pants (they turn into capri’s too) for $5.99

And finally……

Brand New Pair of Gap Kids Jeans that retail for $55 for $20.49

They said I saved over $400 with retail prices.  I know that I would NEVER pay retail, but I probably would have spent around $100 (about $12.50 on sale and clearance average per item) if I happen to find her size on a low markdown clearance by running around town.

In the end, my total was $72.42 and then I used my $10 credit = final was $62.42 (plus shipping) for 8 items or an average of $7.80 per item.

She loves, loves, loves her new dresses and clothes.  I didn’t get shirts as that is the easiest thing for me to find in her size on clearance.  I tried to get things that are hard for me to get – nice dresses, long skirts and nice pants for cheap!

Head to ThredUp HERE and register for a FREE $10 credit and use coupon code: 25OFF and free shipping with your order of $40 (after discount) and get quite a lot of clothes.  Then you can bank your $10 credit for future use!  The 25% off ends today, February 4th, 2013 – so don’t wait!

Also, you can share your referral link with your friends via email, Facebook, etc. and you will both be rewarded with credits! Just click on the “My Account” tab and then click on share to send your friends a $10 credit and get some credit yourself for doing so!
