Do you have a black hole? You know, one of those things that you carry on your shoulder that everyone in your family seems to think is the carryall. But when one of those said family members digs through the bag to find something…they accuse you of having everything, including the kitchen sink in there, except for the ONE thing they are looking for?

Yeah, I have one of those too!

And I try hard to keep it organized, despite the several other members of the family that think THEY can put everything in there, including the kitchen sink. Well, I have organized it a few times and it is actually part of our 30-day organization challenge.

Don’t worry, this was the before. You can see the whole mess before here.

I wanted to have an even better, more stream-lined approach to organizing my purse. So I created a list of pure necessities to use when I do my clean-outs! Another thing that helped me to organize my purse and scale back on the sheer amount of uninvited items…I bought a small purse. Period. It was that simple. Now when the kids or hubby ask me to hold something of theirs…I simply say I don’t have room. My purse only holds my necessities.

I bought mine on a Kohls clearance (gotta love Kohls) and used those extra % off coupons to get it for 80% off. Every time I look, they have some amazing purses and handbags at an affordable, clearance price. There must be a huge fashion turnover and changes in the handbag department! I don’t keep up with it, except to cash in on last season’s handbag fashions.

In addition, I made my list printable so that you can include it in your home binder.

Here’s my list…what you would add/take away?

  • hand sanitizer/lotion
  • sewing kit
  • hair things
  • aspirin
  • notebook and pen
  • lighter/matches
  • cash
  • feminine care
  • mints/gum
  • snack
  • lipstick/balm
  • band aids
  • tissues
  • essential oils
  • swiss army knife
  • first aid kit
