Our Smiths (Kroger) Shopping Trip Results (Saved 78% Total) – Lots of Natural and Produce

We went to our local Kroger affiliate – Smiths, this week to take advantage of some of our favorites during the Mega Event Sale. Plus while we were there, we found some great markdowns!

Here’s what we got:

  • 1 Mom’s Best Natural Cereal marked down to $1.35 (for a beat up box :)) = final is $1.35
  • 2 Kroger Sour Cream sale for $1.00 each = $2.00. Then used .45 off store coupon from mailer = final is $1.55 for two or .78 each
  • 2 Kroger veggie dips sale for $1.00 each = final is $2.00
  • 3 Egg Land’s Best Cage Free Brown Eggs dozen marked down to $1.05 each = $3.15. Then used three .50/1 12/12 Smart Source Insert – $1.50 = final is $1.65 for 3 dozen eggs or .55 each
  • 2 Bob’s Red Mill Organic 5-grain oat hot cereal sale for $1.69 each = final is $3.38 for two or $1.69 each
  • 1 Bob’s Red Mill Organic Corn Grits sale for $2.59 = final is $2.59
  • 4.72 Lbs. of organic Gala Apples sale for .79 lb. = final is $3.73
  • 4.21 lbs. of bananas at .57 lb. = final is $2.40
  • 3 cut watermelon marked down to $1.29 each 1/4 = final is $3.87
  • 3 bag of cut broccoli and cauliflower marked down to $1.29 = final is $3.87
  • 1 bag of organic cut broccoli and cauliflower marked down to $1.49 = final is $1.49
  • 4 1lb bags of baby carrots marked down to .25 each = $1.00. Then used store coupon from mailer for .50 off baby carrots = final is .50 for 4 lbs of baby carrots

Items from the Mega Event Sale (ME) – every 10 items (mix and match) that we purchased, there was an additional $5 taken off at checkout, which is essentially .50 additional discount per item.

  • 9 Barbaras organic natural cereals sale for $3.29 each = $29.61 – $4.50 ME discount = $25.11. Then used 4 buy one get one FREE printable coupons and used one $1.00/1 printable coupon – $12.16 = final is $12.95 for 9 boxes or $1.44 each
  • 2 Healthy Choice natural selections Pumpkin Squash ravioli (this is my favorite, if you haven’t tried pumpkin squash ravioli, must try ;)) sale for $1.88= $3.76 – $1.00 (ME) = $2.76. Then used BOGO coupon from mail = final is $1.38 for two or .69 each
  • 4 Boca Veggie Burgers sale for $2.99 each = $11.96 – $2.00 (ME) = $9.96. Then used two $1.00/2 1/2 Smart Source Insert = final is $7.96 for four or $1.99 each box
  • 4 Pepperidge Farm Baked Naturals crackers sale for $2.69 each = $10.76 – $2.00 (ME) = $8.76. Then used four $1.00/1 printable coupons – $4.00 = final is $4.76 for 4 boxes or $1.19 each
  • 9 Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn sale for $1.99 each = $17.91 – $4.50 (ME) = $13.41. Then used one .75/1 from mailer and 4 $1.00/2 1/23 Smart Source Insert – 4.75 = final is $8.66 for 9 or .96 each
  • 3 Electrasol  dishwasher tabs sale for $3.49 each = $10.47 – $1.50 (ME) = $8.97. Then used three $2.25/1 1/2 Smart Source Insert – $6.75 = final is $2.22 for three or .74 each
  • 2 Pace salsa sale for $1.77 each = $3.54 – $1.00 (ME) = $2.54. Then used .40/2 12/5 Smart Source Insert = final is $2.14 for two or $1.07 each
  • 6 Kraft Singles cheese sale for $1.99 each = $11.94 – $3.00 (ME) = $8.94. Then used 6 $1.00/1 printable = final is $2.94 for 6 or .49 each
  • I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter with Olive Oil on sale for $1.79 – .50 (ME) = $1.29. Then used .60/1 1/30 Red Plum Insert = final is .69
  • 1 Dove Deodorant sale for $3.50 – .50 (ME) = $3.00. Then used $2.00/1 Red Plum Insert 1/30 = final is $1.00
  • 1 Hunt’s Tomatoes sale for .99 – .50 (ME) = final is .49

We also used our quarterly rewards coupon that was worth $8 discount for this purchase!

Summary: The total AFTER the sale prices was $102.34.  We then used $50.49 in coupons, which brought our total down to $51.85. So with the coupons, we saved an additional 50%, but with sale prices calculated, we saved 78% from the regular prices (according to our receipt!).

We also bought Hormel Chili as our Food Bank purchase this week that was .04 – .50 each.
