We also went to our local Kroger affiliate – Smiths.  I stopped by there last week with an unplanned trip and spent more than planned, but this was the originally planned trip. There is a savings event going on where for every 10 qualifying items you buy, you save another $5 (essentially .50 each item).

Here’s what we bought:

  • 1 16 roll pack of Angel Soft toilet paper sale for $4.99. Then used .50/1 from the 8/14 Red Plum Insert = final is $4.49
  • 2 Annies Organic Mac and Cheese sale for $1.00 each = $2.00. Then used $1.00/2 from Kroger mailer = final is $1.00 for two or .50 each
  • 4 Oral B toothbrushes on sale for $1 each with a raincheck from a previous sale = $4.00. Then used four $1.00/1 from the 8/28 PG Insert – $4 = final is FREE
  • 1 Reach floss sale for .95. Then used $1.00/1 Kroger Catalina from previous transaction = final is FREE plus .05 OVERAGE
  • 1 package fresh mushrooms marked down to .99 = final is .99
  • 1 Dole Salad kit normally $2.99 marked down to $1.49 = final is $1.49
  • 1 Dole coleslaw kit marked down to $1.19 = final is $1.19
  • 1 5lb bag of Tillamook cheese regularly $16.99 on sale for $11.99. The used $1.00/1 printable = final is $10.99
  • 1 Challenge Butter sale for $2.24. Then used .55/1 printable = final is $1.69
  • 2 18-ct. eggs sale for $2.09 each = final is $4.18
  • 2 gallons milk sale for $2.48 each = $4.96. Then used two .75/1 printable coupons – $1.50 = final is $3.46 for two or $1.73 each.
  • 2 bags Garden of Eatin blue corn chips sale for $2.99 each = $5.98. Then used two $1.00/1 printables = final is $3.98 for two or $1.99 each
  • .88 lbs of squash sale for .99 lb = final is .87
  • 2 packs of Kroger Cholrine Free natural diapers sale for $5.99 each = $11.98. Then used two $2.00/1 catalina coupons from previous transaction – $4 = final is $7.98 for two or $3.99 each

Items from the save extra $5 event.

  • 10 Smart Water sale for $1.00 each = $10. Then received $5 instant discount = final is $5 for 10 or .50 each
  • 10 GoGurt sale for $1.99 each = $19.90. Received a $5 instant discount = $14.90. Then used 5 .75/2 from the 9/11 General Mills insert – $3.75 = final is $11.15 for 10 or $1.12 each

Summary: The total AFTER the sales but BEFORE the coupons was $77.71. We then used $19.30 in coupons, which makes our new total was $58.41 for all of the above.

It wasn’t the best shopping trip ever, but it was all things we wanted and like, so that is what counts! Love, love the blue corn chips!

There are many things on the extra $5 savings event sales, this was just all we wanted, or that was in stock at our store.  See the store deals to find even more grocery store matchups and more of the items included in the $5 instant savings!

Gallons of milk are on sale for $1.49 at Aldi stores in our area…may be worth checking out if you go through milk like we do at my house.

Wow – what a great deal! Milk seems to be expensive in our area! Walmart is usually one of the lowest, but still seems a lot higher than some of you are getting! Thanks for sharing!
