If you are wanting to try dyeing eggs with natural food dyes, then this post is for you! It is really easy to make natural dyes and dye your eggs with these instead.

Here’s the list of foods that will create natural dyes and how to do it!

*TIP: on each of these, the color will be more vibrant the longer the eggs soaks in the natural dye. So soak according to your desired color brightness!  You can even leave them submerged overnight in the fridge.

Blue – Red Cabbage

Cut 1/2 of a red cabbage into chunks.  Then boil the red cabbage in 4 cups of water. Then add 2 TBSP of vinegar.  Cool to room temperature. Remove the cabbage chunks and submerge eggs until desired color is reached.

Yellow – Turmeric
Boil 1 cup of water.  Then stir in  2 TBSP turmeric powder (ground turmeric) – a coffee mug works best. Then add 2 tsp. white vinegar. Submerge eggs until desired color is reached.
Lavender – Grape Juice
Mix 1 cup of room temperature grape juice with 1 TBSP of vinegar – a coffee mug works best. Submerge eggs until desired color is reached.
Brown – Coffee
Mix 1 cup of room temperature strong coffee with 1 TBSP of vinegar – a coffee mug works best. Submerge eggs until desired color is reached.
Pink – Beets
Peel and cut a red beet into chunks.  Then boil the red beet in 4 cups of water. Then add 2 TBSP of vinegar.  Cool to room temperature. Remove the beet chunks and submerge eggs until desired color is reached.
Orange – Yellow Onion skins
Remove the brown skins from 6 yellow onions.  Add to a pot with 2 cups of water.  Bring to a boil.  Then simmer for 15 minutes.  Remove the onion skins. Add 1 TBSP of vinegar. Cool to room temperature.  Submerge eggs until desired color is reached.
Red – Paprika
Add 3 TBSP of Paprika to 4 cups of boiling water. Then add 2 TBSP of vinegar.  Cool to room temperature. Submerge eggs until desired color is reached.
This gives you 7 color varieties that will all be richer in color the longer the soak (or you can make the solution stronger by adding more of the color creator to the water/vinegar listed.
