As The Thrifty Couple, there are a few things in our marriage that cause some consternation – and one that we specifically discussed prior to marriage (too bad it wasn’t how to stay out of debt). How many of you had the discussion regarding the proper dispensing of the roll? Thankfully I have good scientific reasons to support the over-the-top method compared to the flippant, nonchalant method (or worse, the intentional under-hanger!). And yes, although I have the proof to support my findings, my lovely wife still disagrees with my assessment.

- The Topper – You know the kind. This person is in a rush and leaves the newly acquired roll precariously balanced on the dispenser – right on the remnants of the last roll.
- The Square Saver – Oh yes, your loved one that knows if they leave that one last square of toilet paper it will prevent any need to get a new roll!
- The Ripper – The habitual starting of the roll by ripping a thin, long strip leaving you an annoying, unbalanced mess.
- The Refuser – Is this the worst kind? This person is so audaciously rude that the only thing you see when you get to your toilet is the empty cardboard roll with no attempt to get you a new one.
