His Arrival Is a Miracle: So Here’s The NEW Thrifty Baby In Town

Our Little Miracle!

“For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;”

Psalm 139:13-14b

Wow! It has been a quick four months since we posted last! As some of you may know, we did a post back in February regarding how we needed to take a break and regroup as a family.  Our family time was becoming less and less and our wise young children were the ones that pointed this out and how we really needed this family time.  It has been a wonderful four months.  Our family has gotten closer together, we have learned more about each other, growing and learning, loving and encouraging and getting back on track! It is quite amazing how you can quickly lose sight of what is most important as it “seems to just disintegrate into the big world of time.”

Four of The Thrifty Kids – April 2011

Also,  we announced that there was to be a new baby boy that will be entering into our lives this month.  His due date was June 18th.

Well……… He arrived into this world on May 23rd by emergency c-section and 4 weeks early.  His name is Josiah Mark and he was born at 5lb. 15 oz. and 18.5 inches long.  His birth was nothing short of a miracle and his life spared by potentially just hours.  God is good!  He preserved his life and blessed us by adding him to our family and blessing our lives.

We are also so appreciative and thankful for the wonderful outpouring of love and support from our friends, family, church and neighbors this past month as they have provided prayers, support, meals and encouragement to our family and to help Alex as he has been scurrying around here to fill in the gaps as I recover.

I have had a pleasant recovery considering the circumstances.  Thrifty Al played Mr. Mom for a couple of weeks.  One of the highlights of my recovery came from Mr. Mom himself! He thought he’d have the chance to “show me up” in the laundry department.  But after several days of doing laundry non-stop, he thought he pretty much had it all done.  He then goes upstairs and finds two more big piles of laundry! He said “I thought I had all of this done, after all that work I was excited to be done and now there is no end in sight!!”  I tried laughing although it is quite painful to do so when recovering from a c-section, because this is my #1 complaint around here (he hears often and now understands a little better) – I really hate laundry, mostly because it is never actually fully completed (especially with a family of 7)!! I can’t get the sense of satisfaction with that lovely task and neither did he!

Our baby is now a month old today and it is has been a wonderful and glorious month! He is a joy to our lives and each of our children have expressed their thankfulness and happiness in each moment of the day – and many times with mommy and daddy’s heart rates raising as they try to show too much love!  We feel blessed beyond measure to be a big family of seven now!! It is true, the bigger the family, the more the love flows! God is good!! We will share his miraculous birth story with you all soon as it is nothing short of a miracle.

With this wonderful announcement – we also wanted to announce that we are coming back!! We have had some time to regroup, goal-set, work on a schedule, and try to be more focused on who we are as The Thrifty Couple.  We have had a lot of wonderful changes in our own lives and new levels of saving money over the past few months as the “next step” in our own lives as the next step in the 8 years of being The Thrifty Couple!  We will be sharing many things and our goals for this site very soon and can’t wait to continue to share this money saving journey and lifestyle with each of you!

Also, those Best Deals on Diapers each week at stores all around town is coming back!! And trust us, with two in diapers now, we need them ourselves 😉

Josiah in Daddy’s Hands

“I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.”

Psalm 9:1-2

    He is Beautiful – mmmm, smushy newborn baby love.
    Good for you for taking a break – my son is 3 months old and I took a break from my own thrifty blog, “Deals in Denver” while I was on maternity leave, only to find that I didn’t really want to return to it – just today I posted that I didn’t think I would. I just want to cuddle my sweet baby and contribute to my family right now – and something had to give.
    I do love your site, and I look forward to new posts -congrats on the new edition!

      Yes – lots of cuddling and snuggling. But with 4 other kids, one newborn isn’t enough to share 😉 I told our girls that he needs 1,000 kisses a day to grow properly – they have not missed a kiss!

    Our family grew to 7 nearly a year ago and I’ve not been able to figure out how to balance writing/blogging and family time yet. So I just do it when I find the time and let it go the rest. haha

    Good for you on knowing when to take a break and put your family first. God Bless!

    Congratulations and yeah for us.. we have missed you! There are so many blogs that have every single deal that is going and I am sure most followers follow multiple sites so no stress to get the deals out there. It also just nice to hear how you are all doing as we feel like we are part of your extended family.

      Ditto. You were missed, but please put your family first. When I had my baby a few months ago I hardly had time to look at a blog, let alone try to write one. Looking forward to hearing updates about the family. I enjoy advice on staying out of debt, etc. Don’t worry about every great deal out there. They come around again.
