Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 2
Ingredients
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (if you have real vanilla bean, scrape the insides of the pod into for an even richer flavor)
  • Large Ice Cubes
  • About a ½ cup ice cream salt
  • 1 quart-size Ziploc bag
  • 1 gallon-size Ziploc bag
  • Any of your favorite ice cream mixins
Instructions
  1. In the quart size bag, add the whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla. Seal the bag and be sure that it is sealed tightly, squeezing out the air and double check that there are no leaks.
  2. Next, fill the gallon-size bag halfway with ice cubes. Add the ½ cup of ice cream salt to the ice bag.
  3. Add the quart-size bag to the gallon-size bag of ice. Close the gallon-size ziploc bag tightly as well. Be sure it is sealed so no ice or water leaks out.
  4. Pass the bag around the room and let everyone shake the bag for 30-seconds to a minute until the ice cream begins to form and harden. Continue shaking until desired hardness is achieved!
  5. Take the quart-size bag out and scoop out the ice cream!
  6. Eat the delicious vanilla flavor or add your favorite mix-ins and toppings and enjoy!
  7. Of course, it can be made ahead of time and stored in the freezer for a couple of months.
  8. This is also a super fun activity for an outdoor party and even a birthday party - letting each child make their own ice cream and decorate/top how they want to!
