Good ol' American treat of in-season berries during the patriotic season!

  • 54 blueberries
  • 5 Bananas (cutting each into ll slices for 54 pieces)
  • 20-30 strawberries -you need 60 strawberry pieces, so 30 halved or 20 divided in 3rds or 4ths. This really depends on the size of the strawberry, which varies greatly. You want pieces close to the size of the bananas.
  • 12 wooden skewers
  1. Wash all berries and cut the strawberries and bananas based on the description above.
  2. Start by threading 9 blueberries on 6 skewers.
  3. Then on the blueberry skewers, start with bananas and thread banana, strawberry, banana, strawberry, etc. until you have 3 bananas and 3 strawberries.
  4. Then begin to thread the remaining 6 skewers with the strawberries and bananas, threading back and forth with the strawberries and bananas. Start with strawberries and end with strawberries until you have 13 fruits. You will have 6 banana layers and 7 strawberry layers per skewer.
  5. Arrange them on a plate or platter in the flag formation shown in the picture.
