Ingredients
For the rolls:
  • 1 8-oz package of cream cheese (softened to room temp by leaving it on the counter for 30 mins - you can also rub vigorously on the outside of the packaging to help soften it up)
  • 1 chicken breast or about 1.5 cups of cooked chicken
  • ⅓ cup of sliced green onions
  • ½ tsp. of pepper
  • ¼ tsp. of paprika
  • ⅓ cup of sour cream
  • 2 packages of crescent rolls (big and flaky work best)
  • 4 TBSP melted butter
  • 2 Cups Crushed Corn Flakes
For the Gravy:
  • 1 and ¼ cup of SOS mix (Recipe for this very versatile, used all over the kitchen SOS mix recipe at TheThriftyCouple.com/SOS)
  • 1 cup of milk or 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 1 can of mushrooms or 8 oz of fresh sliced mushrooms
  • *if you want a sauce substitute - you can also use a can of cream of chicken or mushroom soup with about ½ can of milk instead - but SOS is awesome!)
Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl or a mixer, combine the cream cheese, chicken, onion, sour cream, paprika and pepper to the bowl and mix gently on low with a hand mixer or stand mixer.
  2. Once it is all mixed and creamy like, then you are ready to stuff your rolls.
  3. Roll out the crescent rolls and, using a small rolling pin, flatten them out.
  4. Then add about 3-4 TBSP of the chicken mix to the center of each roll.
  5. Then "roll-up" your crescent roll like normal and pinch the ends and any seams so your chicken doesn't leak out!
  6. Next, in a medium to small bowl, crush the corn flakes.
  7. In a small shallow bowl, melt the butter.
  8. Once the butter is melted, you will coat your chicken rolls by first rolling the crescent in the butter and then into the cornflakes.
  9. Place on a greased baking sheet and then bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until they start turning brown.
  10. Pull them out of the oven and then this is meal possibility #1 - Chicken Rolls! These make for a great lunch time version and are super tasty on their own! They are fantastic for potlucks, parties or picnics.
  11. But how we turn them into "million dollar chicken rolls" is by adding the SOS gravy mix! DELICIOUS!!!
To make the gravy topping:
  1. Add the 1 and ¼ mix to a small sauce pan.
  2. Then add the milk or chicken broth and mushrooms.
  3. Using a whisk over medium heat, stir until the sauce thickens.
  4. Then ladle over the top of your chicken rolls!
