A Rare Coupon for a Favorite Food of Ours: Flatout Flatbreads, Plus Yummy Usage Ideas for Healthier Homemade Pizzas

Oh, we are so excited! Today is seriously a rare day for us where we are just running across coupons that we LOVE! You see, if you have been to any of our money saving classes, we do talk about coupons, but our coupon usage is quite unique! We teach others our tips and tricks and it is unlike anything you have ever heard as we haven’t run across anyone that does what we do.

Yes, we are The Thrifty Couple, and we have a love/hate relationship with coupons.  We have been using coupons for over 9 years now and have been on many extremes of coupon usage and what we do now, we have done for the last couple of years as it works, it works well, and it helps us to eat healthier and stick to our $75 per week budget (that covers, groceries, diapers, toiletries and household items).

In one of our recent classes, I mentioned how a popular meal in our home is homemade pizzas – and that I love to use Flatout Flatbreads as they serve as the “already made crusts” but with the healthy twist! Our favorite are the whole grain flaxseed flatbreads. These are a common purchase in our house because it seems like they go on sale for Buy One Get One FREE every few weeks which means an automatic 50% discount even without coupons!

So…….when we saw this coupon for .50/1 Flatout Flatbreads, you know that we were doing jumping jacks because combined with that common bogo free sale, we will get a steal of a deal on a well used food item in our home!

If you are looking for a super awesome, easy homemade pizza idea, then you can make these ones.  They are like personal pizzas, but a little bigger.  Four of these flatbread pizzas feeds our family of 7 to full!

To make them, just top them with any ingredients that you would normally put on your homemade pizza from olives, pepperoni, ham, pineapple, etc.

The two most common pizzas in our home are with ingredients we have on hand (we usually have most of these items) often and so I will share these additional ideas with you along with your usual pizza toppings!

First idea that I will share is the Beef and Onion pizza as we have a supply of grass-fed beef in our freezer and so we always have ground beef on hand so pizza sauce (or other tomato based sauces you may have in your pantry) and then browned ground beef that has been rinsed and drained.  Plus we use yellow, white or red onions sliced very thinly and then of course topped with cheese.  I also sprinkle oregano and olives and/or pineapple if we have either of those two as well.  This is a kids favorite in our house!

During the same Flatbread homemade pizza meal, Alex and I will often make our favorite – the Feta and Spinach.  Again, these are quite simple and very good and a healthier option!  The very basic is that we use a pesto and garlic sauce, then fresh spinach and feta sprinkled with crushed peppercorns (or just black pepper) and fresh grated Parmesan cheese!  In addition, if we have fresh mushrooms from a recent store sale, we also add those (the fresh cut baby portabello mushrooms are awesome on this too!).

The funny part is that earlier today we posted the following two coupons as well (I am telling you, the coupons are in our favor today, we usually don’t find this many coupons that we love in one day :)) Between these three coupons, it is almost all of the necessary ingredients needed for one of these yummy concoctions!

  • $1.00 off Athenos Feta Cheese and Dole Salads (which can be used on Spinach blends)
  • $1.00 off two Kraft Natural Shredded cheeses

Those are just a couple of ideas that we use these flatbreads for as it is our favorite use, but you can use them for all sorts of meals including chicken Caesar wraps, other wraps, replacement for breads on anything you would use breads with, and so much more! And in terms of even more pizza ideas, there are as many possibilities as there are pizza topping combinations, which are in the thousands! 🙂

They come in packages of 6, so when we do the buy one get one free sale, we end up with 12 flatbreads, which gives us 3 homemade pizza nights over the following 2 weeks of purchase for our family size!

Print the .50/1 Flatout Flatbread coupon twice from each computer to stock-up! Watch for a sale to get an even better deal.

Also, if you are looking to get them now and can’t wait for a sale, you can get a decent deal at Walmart everyday.  Here’s that deal as well for an option for you!

  • Buy 1 Flatout Flatbread package of 6ct. on for $2.98 at Walmart everyday
  • Then use the .50/1 printable Flatout Flatbread coupon = final is $2.48 each package or essentially .41 each crust 😉

*Please note that this is a rare coupon and it may not last long!
