One of our favorite “non organic/natural” cereals is Chex! They have pretty simple ingredients and they are gluten-free! They are $3.28 each box at Walmart and occasionally we can use a coupon to take .50 off making them $2.78 each box.

Well, I was browsing on Amazon the other day and found out that I can get them for as low as $1.81 each box with a stock-up deal, which is a pretty good savings over the $3.28 everyday low price!

Here’s how to get this deal:

  • Head to Amazon HERE where you will see a case of 14 Rice Chex on sale for $45.92, which is $3.28 per box (like I’ve said dozens of times before, Amazon’s prices are almost always equal to Walmart, but they have some extra ways to save, which means no coupon clipping, no annoying checkout, no leaving home and it all arrives to your door! I love that!)
  • Then choose the subscribe and save option in the top right corner which will take another 5%-20% off (the discount is greater for more subscribe and save orders you have done in the past!), this takes the price down to $43.62 – $36.74 for 14 boxes.
  • Finally, there is a 25% off coupon that you can digitally clip (by clicking on it!) and this will take another $11.48 off of the price and the price will drop to $32.14 – $25.26 for 14 boxes which is as low as $1.81 each box and shipped free!

Be sure to clip the 25% off coupon that looks like this:

You can also find a similar deal on the Corn Chex HERE, but please note, you can only use the 25% off coupon one time per Amazon account, so either on the Corn or the Rice Chex, but both qualify for the 5-20% discount!

See more Amazon Deals

Please note:  the 5%-20%discount is for the Subscribe and Save option.  Amazon states that you can cancel subscribe and save at any time, including right after the order.  So if you do not intend to continue having them automatically delivered, cancel the subscribe and save soon after so you do not forget (wait for your items to ship before canceling as it will cancel your current order)!

Printable Coupon for $1 off Organic Produce (Fresh or Frozen)

earthbound-coupon-may8

It is another day for a great coupon for fresh or frozen organic produce from Earthbound Farms.  This is the brand that is sold at Walmart and many other stores.  Walmart does have a good everyday price on these products, so that is a good place to use this coupon as it will yield a nice deal. Earthbound has been giving these coupons out every couple of weeks for the last year and it is such a blessing and one of our favorite coupons!

First,  head over to the Earthbound Site HERE and register or log-in.  For the coupon, just look at the options on the bottom and you will see the coupon from today that you can print! It says “$1 off 2 off Organic Strawberries” Once you print it, you will notice that the fine print says you can use it on any Earthbound Farms product, so if you wanted something fresh or anything else with the Earthbound Farms Organic label, then you can use on them, including their frozen organic produce…which we have mentioned is a good way to go for many produce items!

As always, we wanted to share the BEST deal you can get with this coupon for organic produce:

  • Buy 2 Earthbound Farms fresh carrots for .74 – .98 each (this is the price range of these carrots across the country at Walmart and will depend on where your location is, but even at .98, this is a super deal!)

Our Organic Produce Order This Week from Bountiful Baskets for $32 Including Rhubarb

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read our disclosure policy here.

by Cassie on May 7, 2013

This is a sample from a previous organic basket!

Today we decided to get an organic basket of produce again from Bountiful Baskets.  As the springtime continues into summer, we will probably not be getting very many baskets from Bountiful Baskets co-op in the summer and fall months we actually find better produce values at the local farmer’s markets and even in the grocery stores that buy locally.  But until then, I was really excited to pick-up Rhubarb really cheap! We haven’t had Rhubarb for a long time.  My grandparents use to grow this in their garden and we had an abundance every year for many years.  I miss Rhubarb, and so does Alex.  He mentioned it a few weeks ago and I looked at the grocery store to only find it at $2.99 per lb.  I passed on it then, so I was happy to see it as a cheap produce option this week!

They have many options, but we just did the $25 organic basket and the Rhubarb for $32 plus the $1.50 fee.

bountifu-baskets-options-may6

I should have started Rhubarb seedlings, but I guess I need to get it on the list for next year! ;)

Here’s what I ordered for Saturday’s pickup:

bountiful-baskets-reciept-may6

If you want to see if they are available in your area too, then…

Head to Bountiful Baskets HERE and choose your state and then a pick-up location closest to you from the drop-down menu.

If Bountiful Baskets is not in your state yet, either contact them to see what they need to start one or keep watching for them to open up in your state too! They are rapidly growing and rapidly opening other states.  We have been fortunate to have been the first state and so we have been able to do this for quite some time!

*Please note, you only have until tonight at 10pm PST to order your produce for this week for pick-up on Saturday at a local location!

Also, to fully understand what we are talking about, you do need to read this article HERE.

  vitacost-sale-april2513

Starting today and through May 1st 2013, you can get some great deals on organic, natural and whole foods from Vitacost.  I have mentioned Vitacost a few times, including most recently for the 7 Best Essential Oils for cleaning.  We’ve also mentioned that Vitacost is one of our go-to grocery stores.  It is like an online Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s, but with Amazon’s prices.  So when there is a further discount, it is a SUPER time for us to stock-up on our non-perishable foods, household and personal care items that would normally cost quite a bit buying them in-store in town somewhere.

So they have a sale where you will save another 15% on the most popular food products.  There are hundreds of items in this sale! The discount is already reflected in the prices and as you can see, there is a retail price, a Vitacost Price and then the 15% off sale price.

bob-pizza-crust-vitacost

There is no coupon code needed!  See this example on the Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free and Wheat-Free Pizza Crust Mix as the example.

I usually end up doing an order about every 4-6 weeks from Vitacost with my grocery money from our $20K living expenses budget and more specifically a portion of the $125 weekly food budget for a family of 7 trying to eat natural, organic and whole foods diet. I buy the sale items at the time and usually by a handful of them to also put in storage.  I have purchased a bit of everything from Vitacost as I have been shopping there for a couple of years.  BUT…I thought it would be fun or at least interesting to see some pics from our spice cabinet and our basement storage (which ended up being really dark bad pictures as there is no light and the camera light wasn’t enough!) but at least you can maybe get some ideas on what to buy – one picture I did not take was our pasta, rice and quinoa shelf that many came from Costco, many from Amazon, but also many from Vitacost as they have some pretty good prices on those too!

spices-vitacost-sm

Our spices from Vitacost up in our kitchen! I love the Starwest Botanicals brand of bulk spices.  I then recycle my glass food jars (from pasta sauce, pickles, and even have my organic garlic in a recycled Franks Red Hot Sauce bottle – these are perfect for ground spices) and then just refill the glass jars with the bulk supply.  It works out very well and I hardly have to buy spices.  I also love Real Salt, Bragg’s and Simply Organic brands too.

spices-shelf-storage-sm

This is my spices and oil storage in the basement, they have Spectrum oils and many other brands.  They even have their own generic brands which are even cheaper (and my giant bottle of Frank’s from Costco – Alex and I could drink this stuff :) )!

more-grains-storage-sm grains-storage-sm

And I am so sorry for these terrible pictures….It was so dark with one little light in the room.  But these are my grains, beans, wheat germ, chia seeds, flax seeds, flours and more which are mostly all organic too and a super price. My favorite brands are Arrowhead Mills and Bob’s Red Mill.

cereal-supply-sm

As a former “extreme type couponer” (even though the real show is not real at all), my cereal shelves would be appalling to any seasoned couponer with how empty they are right now.  Everyone knows that if you are good at couponing, you have cereal coming out of your eyeballs.  Well, I use to have a 5-shelf shelving unit stuffed as full as possible with quadruple stacking.  But since then and since trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle, I have gotten very picky about cereal and very picky about what I let my kids eat.  Which is why cereal is no longer a ever flowing commodity in our home and we have many alternative breakfasts in our “Building Better Breakfasts” page. And they other reason why we rarely eat cereal is that the milk we now buy is much more expensive too! So this is my very slim and teeny cereal collection now :) But Vitacost has good prices on many of those too!

Anyway, if you are wanting to start or add to your healthier foods options, then we recommend using $50 of your grocery budget buy some foods from Vitacost now through May 1st for the automatic extra 15% off on many, many foods.   The reason for $50 is that shipping is free when you spend $49 (otherwise it is $4.99).

I actually haven’t ordered from Vitacost in about 6-7 weeks, so I am doing my foods order today too.

STOP…. IF YOU ARE A FIRST TIME BUYER TO VITACOST… you will want to do this too as you will get further discounts! New customers get a FREE $10 to spend with orders of $30 or more.  This is great news for you as you will get another $10 off!!  You can use it on the foods, or you can use it on the 7 oils we shared previously to make now 26 homemade cleaners.

Here’s the links to shop and get your discounts:
