They sell foods, household items and personal care items made from their famous coconut oil!

As promised and as requested by many of you, you asked for us to let you know when Tropical Traditions has their FREE shipping sale (as many of us don’t like paying for shipping :))! Well, you can take advantage of the free shipping today! This is for today, Monday, February 24th, 2014 only. So today may be a good day to cash in on some healthy, natural and organic grocery options – they will arrive to your door for free :)

Along with the Free Shipping days, they will also have sales.  These are the items that we grab during the free shipping sales because we basically get a double discount!

With that, their most popular product – coconut oil- is on sale right now! You can get the 16 oz. jar of pure coconut oil for $7.99!

pure-coconut-oiltt

They have many different types of coconut oils on sale this week, but the best sale is on the pure form. The $7.99 price is a nice price if you have been wanting to give a version of their coconut oils a try!

Another product that I love of theirs is the Oxygen Bleach, which is 50% off for 6lbs of powder!   This is a natural and color-safe bleach alternative and it does a very good effective job, and then I am not using harsh bleach.  This is a great price and it usually lasts me around 7-8 months.  It is in a very large tub with 6lbs. of powdered bleach alternative.  I mentioned how I pretty much make all of my homemade cleaning products (and you can too, read-up HERE on making 26 Natural Homemade Cleaning Products), but bleach is one thing that I have been buying a natural option for.

Anyway, these are just two of the many products that they have and they do have many sales going on right now. If you have been wanting to try anything they sell or need refills of anything, today is the day to get it!

Bountiful Baskets Produce Co-Op Open For This Week: We Also Got Blackberries and Organic Tomatoes

This is a sample from our $15 conventional basket a couple of weeks ago!

We just placed our produce order for pick-up on Saturday from our Bountiful Baskets produce co-op.

We skipped last week for Penniless Week, but we were so excited to see two additional offerings this week that are right up our alley!

We grabbed our basket of 50% fruit and 50% veggies, but also these two additional items:

  • 10 lb. box of Heirloom Organic Tomatoes (I will be canning and or freezing many for future use) for $12.74. This is $1.28 each lb., which is hard to get even regular tomatoes for this price in our area.
  • 12 6oz. clam shell packs of Blackberries for $14.25.  This is $1.19 each package, which is a great price.  They are $2.99 – $3.99 for regular blackberries in our local grocery stores. I plan to freeze these as well!

Our total was a bit more than normal, but stocking up on Blackberries and Organic Heirloom Tomatoes for a great price is awesome!

We will be picking this order up on Saturday!

Have you gotten any of these before?

If you want to see if they are available in your area too, then…

Head to Bountiful Baskets HERE and choose your state and then a pick-up location closest to you from the drop-down menu.

If Bountiful Baskets is not in your state yet, either contact them to see what they need to start one or keep watching for them to open up in your state too! They are rapidly growing and rapidly opening other states.  We have been fortunate to have been the first state and so we have been able to do this for quite some time!

*Please note, you only have until tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 4th) at 10pm PST to order your produce for this week for pick-up on Saturday at a local location!

Also, to fully understand what we are talking about, you do need to read this article HERE.

Our Bountiful Basket Pictures From Last Week’s Basket and What We Are Ordering for $34.50 This Week

bb-basket-jan132014

This is a sample from our $15 conventional basket last week!

As promised, we said we would share pictures of our produce co-op baskets and remind you to grab yours too! Well, it’s Monday and so that means that Bountiful Baskets is open for orders for fresh fruits and veggies at an affordable price.  They open mid-morning on Monday’s and are open until Tuesday night or until they sell out.  It is for orders that you pick up on Saturday mornings.

We wanted to share pics of what we got in our basket last week for $15.  You can see it all in the full picture above.

  • Pears
  • Mangoes
  • Red Peppers
  • Grapes
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Onions
  • Yellow Squash
  • Spaghetti Squash
  • Broccoli
  • 3 lb. bag of apples

We also opted for the juicing pack that was $8.50 last week (and they are offering this again this week).

bb-jiuce-pack-jan132014

The $8.50 juicing pack included:

  • Ginger
  • Lemons
  • Parsley
  • Kale
  • Cucumber
  • Pineapple
  • Celery
  • Apples
  • Carrots

Last week, the two above pictures cost us $26.50 plus $2.50 for the handling fee.  Not a bad deal for that much fresh produce!

So this week, we usually budget $35 for our Bountiful Baskets produce each week.  They had 2 separate specialty baskets we wanted this week – the Italian Pack (we have gotten this many times and it is a GREAT pack!) and another juicing pack.  So we went for the $15 conventional basket instead of the $25 organic basket to make room in our budget for the yummy extras!

Nationwide Deal For 100% Natural Boneless, Skinless Chicken at Only $1.89 Each lb. (No Added Hormones, Additives or Artificial Ingredients)

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read our disclosure policy here.

by Cassie on December 30, 2013

Happy New Year to all of us!

It’s time for one of our most favorite deals of the year!

Zaycon foods is having their most popular signature sale right now. This is great news for us and for you because THIS is our favorite chicken sale, THIS is how we stock-up on chicken to feed our family of 7 and at a very affordable price for high quality natural chicken!

Let us tell you about it, because a smart frugal home should look at this option vs. buying chicken in the grocery store.  This is probably also going to be better options than other local chicken sources as it is natural, no added hormones, additive or artificial ingredients.  So it is a good alternative to organic when you can pay $1.89 for good chicken boneless, skinless chicken breast vs. the $5-$7 per lb. price for certified organic.  In fact, it is actually cheaper than many grocery store low quality, unnatural chicken breasts.  You really cannot go wrong.  We love the taste, quality and freshness that our family has grown accustomed to. We have been buying it for the past several years and have had no need to buy chicken in the store.

This chicken is sold via Zaycon Foods which is a nationwide company that provides fresh chicken, beef, pork and seafood to families at an affordable price. Their meat is higher quality and in some cases a natural option. They only have meat offerings at certain times of the year and for a certain type of meat. The last natural chicken breast sale was in the fall.  You do not know how often or when they will have these sales

Well, right now is their Trademark Event where they are selling 100% Natural Chicken that has no added hormones, no added additives and no artificial ingredients for the low price of $1.89 each lb.

The way that this works is that you place your order and then you will pick up your order from a local pick-up site as they are delivered to the area fresh.  This is an AMAZING price per lb. for this quality of chicken breasts.  You do need to order in 40lb. cases and you can get multiple cases.  This comes out to be $75.60 each 40lb. box.

zaycon-chicken-sale189

We are getting 1 box this time, sometimes we get two.  We still have some left from the sale many months ago.  One 40 lb. box will last our family for 3 months, and Zaycon seems to offer this sale about every 3 months, so we should be good until the next sale.

We freeze half of the chicken raw in ziplocs and the other box we cook it all up and chop it up and have cooked cubed or shredded chicken which makes dinner so much easier as this is always the hardest part for me (defrosting and cooking the meat).  So the days I have very little time, the cooked chicken is the answer.

cooked-chicken

We highly encourage you to look into this and to place your orders soon as they sell out of this product. One time, I waited too long and the locations that were 3, 15, 25 minutes away were sold out and I had to go with the fourth option that was 45 minutes away, when I literally had an option up the road.  It was still worth the 45 minute drive, however, I don’t wait any longer because I want to pick-up close to home and order before they sell out.

Here’s details about the chicken that they offer (this information is from their site):

Our Trademark Event

• 100 % natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients

• Comes directly from the processor and has never been frozen

 • Sold by the case — 40 lbs in each case

 • Case dimensions—18 in wide x 12 in deep x 7 in tall

[NOTE: Our chicken is delivered in its original wholesale packaging, a water resistant cardboard case containing three or four plastic bags of fresh chicken breasts. The smaller bags are typically sealed in a larger plastic bag. The smaller bags are not uniform in weight. There will be small amounts of naturally occurring liquids (i.e.,"chicken juice") in each bag and case. Chicken breasts typically come in double-lobed pairs ("butterfly") and will have small attached amounts of fat.]

Just as we have mentioned many times in our classes, we rarely buy meat at the store.  Between our beef supply from a local farmer or the ground beef from Zaycon, and these opportunities to buy chicken in bulk, we are set for most meals.  Most all of our weekly budget goes to the fresh produce and dairy and small portion to the coupon items that we use!

Head to the Zaycon Site HERE and register (or log-in if already a member).

You have to be registered to see the prices, pickup and delivery details and dates for your area and additional details.

Don’t miss this event as it is only open for orders the next few days and then it will be gone again for a while!
