We shared earlier the results of this week’s shopping trip at Target. Well over the weekend, we also hit Walmart to grab a special gift for our soon to be 3-year old daughter that is a baby fanatic. Well, we had told you about a $75 doll that you could possibly get for $19.90!! This was a really popular doll before Christmas and we didn’t see it go lower than $45.
In fact, Amazon right now has it down to $49.99 and the Walmart we shopped at had the shelf price of $60. But, when you scanned the doll, they were marked down to $29.90. Then with using that $10 off coupon that we told you about = final is $19.90! We were thrilled to get her an interactive baby doll!
So we went to go get this doll and grabbed a few of the deals there at Walmart too!
Here’s what we bought:
- 1 package of flour tortillas on sale for $1.00 = final is $1.00
- 1 Tyson Fajita Chicken Strips on roll back for $2.50 (was $2.78). Then used the $1.00/1 printable coupon (no longer available) = final is $1.50
- 2 Sambazon Organic Juice smoothies for $2.68 each = $5.36. Then used two FREE coupons – $5.36 = final is FREE
- 1 box of Honey Bunches of Oats cereal for $2.82. Then used the $1.00/1 printable coupon = final is $1.82
- 1 Hillshire Farms Grilled Essentials on roll back for $2.21 (was $3.48). Then use the $1.00/1 printable coupon = final is $1.21
- 2 Village Naturals products large containers (1 bath salts and 1 foaming milk bath) for $3.22 each = $6.44. Then used two $1.00/1 printable coupons – $2 = final is $4.44 for two or $2.22 each
- 1 Kikkoman Panko Bread Crumbs for $1.83. Then used $3.00/1 printable coupon = final is FREE plus $1.16 OVERAGE
- 3 Organic Sunflower Oil Cooking Spray normally $3.88 each = $11.64 on markdown for $2.00 each = final is $6 for three or $2 each
Summary: the total before sales and coupons was $95.35. The sale prices brought the total down to $63.70. We then used $23.36 in coupons which made our new total $40.34 for all of the above plus our 2% cash back from Perk Street = final was $39.53. Since $19.90 of the purchase was for this doll, we spent $19.63 on all of the groceries and was happy to be able to stock-up on our natural Sunflower cooking spray too!

We had a total of three shopping trips in the last week – but first we wanted to share the most current one with you and will share the other two later this afternoon including a special birthday toy that sold for $75 before Christmas that we were able to find for $19.90 with a coupon and clearance! So excited about this one…. but more to come
With that in mind, we wanted to share this week’s Target shopping trip results. We honestly only went in for Pull-Ups, but you know us and how we check the produce, meat and other markdown to make sure we aren’t missing an unadvertised deal and as one way that we save on the produce, meat and organic items!
Here’s what we bought:
- 2 Pull-Ups Value pack boxes with the final price of $15.49 each (they were on sale for $25.99, but with the coupons and scenario we told you about HERE on our diaper deals, you can get them for as low as $15.49 each this week – this is equivalent to around $5 a jumbo pack!) = final is $31
- 6.63 lbs. of bananas for .52 each lb. = final is 3.45
- 2 HUGE cantaloupe on sale for $2.29 for the whole size (not per lb.) = final is $4.58 (these are HUGE like small watermelon size!)
- 4 Seventh Generation dishwasher detergent normally $5.99 on markdown for $2.98 = $11.92. Then used $0.75/1 Seventh Generation Cleaning Product, p.174 All You Magazine, Nov 2011 (exp 01/31/2012) = final is $11.17 for 4 or $2.29 each
- 3 packs of Laura’s Lean organic beef for $20.27 (average of $6.76 each). Then used 3 $3.00 coupons attached to the packages – $9 = final is $11.27 or $3.75 each
Summary: the total before sales and coupons was $112.24. The sale prices brought the total down to $92.20. We then used $30.75 in coupons which made our new total $61.45 for all of the above plus our 2% cash back from Perk Street = final was $60.22.
As the big boxes of Pull-ups alone are $29.99 each normal price – everything else was bonus just from using a few coupons and watching for sales! The best part is that we were able to get the organic meats that we love and our brand of dishwasher detergent for a rock bottom price. We have shared how we buy our meats normally, and the ones we bought on this trip are also ones we mentioned as a secondary option. Check out our meat stock up post HERE.

We love this time of year because our family’s favorite fruit is in season! We love, love, love Cuties! If you do not ration our children, we will literally go through a box every two days. Our budget increases slightly to accommodate our Cutie addiction
This week, Target has the Cuties clementines for $4.99 for a 5-lb box. This is a great price on this product! PLUS – use .75/1 Smart Source 12/4 and then get these for only $4.24! As these normally sell for $6.99 – $7.99, this is a really good price for Cuties clementines!
One caveat for our family – the Cuties that our Target sells are bitter. This was the case last year on three separate occassions. We purchased one this year to see if it was just a fluke last year and again same thing. We actually could not eat them and returned them to get our money back. But Walmart and our local Kroger (Smiths) has that great sweet awesome taste that we love in the ones that they sell. We personally will not buy them from Target for this reason. We do not understand why every batch we have purchased from Target the last two years are very bitter – it really doesn’t make any sense as you’d think the distribution would hit each of the stores (unless Target uses a different distributor?!?!). Now this is just our local Target, so we are not saying that this is the case for all of them!
Target is also the store that will have awesome sales on them – so to rectify the situation from the great deal at Target but refusing to buy them at ours for the horrible bitter taste, we just price match at Walmart!

We have to be honest – even though we are thrifty, there are a few things and a few brands that we are very picky about. When it comes to the creamy dressings like Ranch and Blue Cheese – we can only eat one brand and that is Litehouse! Litehouse is sold in the produce section of the stores in the coolers as it is also a fresh and natural dressing!
But it is also not the cheapest dressing. So I am sure you could imagine our excitement being The Thrifty Couple when we found a printable coupon this morning. This Litehouse coupon for .55/1 any product is a great one to print!

The dressings sell for $3.78 at Walmart everyday = final is $3.23 after the Litehouse coupon.
In addition, our local grocery stores (including our local Kroger affiliate) will put them on sale for $2.50 quite frequently = $1.95 each after the Litehouse coupon.
As this coupon is for ANY product, they also make a great fruit yogurt dip, a caramel dip (like for apples), a strawberry glaze and a veggie dip in addition to all of the many dressings that they carry!

The cheapest product that they have that we know about is the Strawberry Glaze for $1.74 everyday (even cheaper with a sale!) = final is $1.19 after the Litehouse coupon.
Print the Litehouse dressing coupon HERE (use zip code: 30303). You can print twice for two bottles too!
