Did you know that Disney has just increased their ticket pricing to both Disneyland and Disneyworld to be seasonal pricing? In an nutshell, the typically slow times will be the cheapest times to go and the peak times will be the most expensive times to go. The ticket prices will reflect the increase in traffic to the park in an attempt to thin and even out the times people visit the parks.
Honestly, it makes complete sense that Disney would base ticket prices on the number of average visitors to the parks each day. It is the basic principle behind supply and demand and we are surprised that they haven’t done it yet. And it might end up being great for everyone because maybe the busiest times will not be as busy now. You can read about their price increase on the Disney blog.
We made a mistake a few years ago thinking a nice family vacation to Disneyland and So.Cal during the week between Christmas and New Year’s would be a great and special time. We were so well planned as far as the financial end of it goes (and buying our package through this discount Disney company HERE) that it seemed so perfect for a holiday vacation. We did know that it was a busier time, but how busy could it have been? Well, downright miserable busy! They closed the gates 2 of the 3 days of our visit 2 hours after opening because they met capacity and the 3rd day, the middle of the week, the gates closed 3 hours after opening. Apparently, it was a new record for how fast the park filled because it was all over the news. So, this new pricing structure could, in fact, be a blessing for all because we really couldn’t do much on those super busy days.
But, what is an even bigger blessing is still being able to nab the old Disney ticket prices! They have already indeed gone up. But there is a GREAT discount Disney Travel Agent that consistently has the lowest Disney prices (and will match or beat any out there). They have a contracted ability to offer the old rates for anyone booking through them, as long as you book your trip by March 8th, 2016. Please note: you don’t have to travel by then, this just means that you secure your trip by then. You also don’t have to pay for it by then, just the down payment to secure it (which is typically $125).
Here’s an overview of the prices for an example of traveling to Disneyland:
The list below shows Disneyland’s new prices and the current discounted prices through GetAwayToday link HERE during the Adults at Kids’ Prices months (May, August, September and November):
3-Day Park Hopper Gate Price: $295: Our price: $264 – $31 savings!
4-Day Park Hopper Gate Price: $320: Our price: $285 – $35 savings!
5-Day Park Hopper Gate Price: $335: Our price: $299 – $36 savings!
Other travel dates are a $20 savings per ticket off the gate price. Again, you don’t have to travel by then, just book and secure by then (with a typical $125 down payment) and then travel at your convenience. The prices will go up on March 9.
In addition to having the already lowest prices at Get Away Today, they also have “freebies” when you book with them like they had free gifts for the kids, all of the reservations done by them in an easy package that required very little work, transportation, transfers, coupons, cancellation refund and even extra Disney perks that only come with booking through a company or Disney directly. Many companies charge extra for these “perks” or it is included in your price, which is sometimes why travel and booking agencies tend to run a little higher, just not in this case. Get Away Today does NOT charge booking fees.
