We have talked about how we will purchase our produce several weeks out of the year from a produce co-op. The co-op is called Bountiful Baskets and we have ordered from them for years. They have grown to be in several locations nationwide.
You can read more details and information about this nationwide co-op on the previous post here.
But, we also sometimes like to share what we picked up because it is a total surprise and sometimes it is a much better deal than other times.
So, here’s the order we picked up this past Saturday. Bountiful Baskets offers conventional baskets for $15 and organic baskets for $25 each week. Plus, they have extra offerings that you can buy (including other fruit/veggie packs, fresh tortillas pack and fresh organic breads packs).
We almost always grab the organic basket when we do order. Well, here’s what we got for $25 this week.
Here’s what we got: (all organic)
- 2 GIANT sweet potatoes
- 3 yellow squash
- 3 zucchini
- 4 pears
- 6 apples
- 1 mango
- 1 bunch of chard
- 1 package of cherry tomatoes
- 1 package of romaine lettuce
- 1 bunch of bananas
- small pile of fingerling potatoes
We also grabbed an 8lb. case of mangoes for $8.50 as an extra offering – which was about 13 mangoes.
We want to hear from you, do you think this was a good deal this week? Based on your area and the ability to get fresh organic produce in your area, do you think you can get all of this for $25?
