These are great ideas to do over the camp fire with your family. I went camping every year as a kid with my parents and hope to continue the tradition with my own kids. We are just waiting until they get a little older.

Yes, we have little kids too and “real” camping is a “real” challenge. It will be better when they are older. But backyard camping is fun and a great way to acclimate them to it. :)

We also do chicken breast foil dinners:

Lay a boneless chicken breast on a piece of heavy duty foil, smother with a couple Tablespoons of mushroom soup and salt and pepper
On top of that, put sliced potatoes, carrots, green beans or whatever veggies you like
close up and put on grill
You can also do this in your oven–put on cookie sheet

YUM! Thanks for sharing that idea! Chicken and mushroom soup is a long time family favorite. I hadn’t thought about it for camping thought! Love it!

We also make our own cream of mushroom soup, the dry mix can be taken and the water added at the time of cooking. http://thethriftycouple.com/2012/08/09/homemade-cream-of-mushroom-soup-using-sos-mix-easy-frugal-and-better-than-campbells-canned/
