Missing Time-Sensitive Deals, Coupons and More on Facebook? Here’s One Tip to Help

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read our disclosure policy here.

by Alex on May 29, 2012

“Facebook’s making some changes,” we say.  Your reply without thinking is, “What’s new?”

But Facebook is making changes that could cause some ripple effects to your family’s savings.  We won’t bore you with our speculations that Facebook just released their IPO, was way over-valued and is now making up for it by charging pages to get their messages out to their fans.  Or, I guess I did.  And you can’t blame them either because they are more than entitled to make money.

However this is where it hits you.  The bottom-line is that you’re not going to see as much of our deals, coupons, savings tips and more as Facebook will be limiting you unless we pay $$ to Facebook to deliver that content to you.  But we did want to share with you one way – if the savings information we pass along has been a blessing to your family – to keep getting the info delivered right in your news feed.  You can add our site (and other sites you want to keep viewing in your feed) to a list:

Making a Facebook List

It’s really quite simple.  All you need to do is:

1.  Go to The Thrifty Couple on Facebook and click on the down-arrow to the right of the Message button (see image below).

2. Just define your own list (or add to a current list) like our new list “Favorite Sites” below:

3. Go back to our FB page (not necessary) and you should see our Facebook page added to your new list with “Show in News Feed” checked.  It should be by default.

Now, from everything we can tell, you should still receive our daily tips, time-sensitive coupons and hot deals in real time.

Yes, we know its a drag.  We understand its not terribly fun.  But we wanted to pass this on because we have heard from so many of you just how much you have saved.  And as we always say, even those small savings over time add up to real, true change as well!

Lastly, if you don’t want to miss a thing, make sure to follow us on all your preferred resources.  Hint: Look to the right on our site and find out all the ways you can keep in touch! :)

If you miss us, let us know!  We want to make sure to keep providing you all this great information however you want to receive it!

Can anyone guess what the next change in Facebook will bring? :)   Leave a comment below if you’ve got some good ones that Facebook should implement!

I want to be able to invite non-friends to an event! I’m hosting an event for one of my FB groups and realized there was no way to invite that whole group without making the event public (didn’t want to do that since my home address was on the event page). Hmmmmm…
